Auto.
I have a 6 year old car which is paid for. The book value is about $4320. I have almost $20,000.00 in debt & I am wondering if the Trustee can order the sale of my car to satisfy some of my debts. I cannot afford to get another car and with payments. I live in Connecticut. Any suggestions is appreciated.
Answer:
The answer depends on what exemptions are available to you. I have written a Bankruptcy FAQ which should answer many of your questions about what is involved--it may be found at http://users.erols.com/lawyer/FAQ/br_faq.htm. I strongly recommend speaking with a local bankruptcy attorney. Most offer free initial consultations and he or she should be able to review your specific situation and let you know what you can and can't do.
