Auto & Chapter 7.
My car is paid for & I am wondering this. When the day comes to go to court, can the judge make me sell my car? I live in Connecticut. I also borrowed money from my savings plan at work. If I fail to pay back it back, the money will be reported to the IRS as taxable income. I do not want to include that if I file. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Answer:
If you cannot exempt your car and there is significant equity in it, the Trustee can sell it and distribute the proceeds to your creditors. You are required to list *all* debts in your bankruptcy; there is no prohibition, however, against paying a debt you want to after your discharge.
