What Is The Best Way To Learn Excel?

Q: My ultimate goal is to be an excel guru. I'm only at my beginning stages in my excel development, i.e I know vlookup, pivot table, filtering and a few shortcut keys. Iam trying to learn most i can from this forum/newsgroup. but i need a more structured learning program. what books/cd's would you recommend me to learn about excel. hopefully later on i can program macros. what does "MSExcel Bible" like?

A:Obviously you must practice, practice, practice. That is the only way you learn and become proficient. But also check out many of the Excel MVPs' websites for tons of great info: http://www.mvps.org/links.html#Excel You can also learn a lot by researching the google archives and searching on keywords, such as "autofilter". http://www.google.com/advanced_group_search? &as_ugroup=*excel*&lr=&num=100&hl=en You'll find as you read the newsgroups that Excel MVPs (and many others of MVP caliber) are strong or extremely knowledgeable in certain areas. I noticed Debra Dalgleish's ability to use advanced filters, so I researched all of her old posts on advanced filters through google and learned how to use them through example and practice. Don't forget the online Help that comes with Excel. Too many people deride it as being written for geeks by geeks. It does have it's moments but generally it is getting better and better with each succeeding version.
