Yellow Gold Diamond Engagement Ring, Diamond Engagement Rings - What's The Latest Fashion?

Q: Whew. I was worried it might have been something along the lines of "wretched excess", instead of the soul of quiet elegance. Off on a tangent, wasn't it Oscar Wilde who said "A man who marries his lover usually leaves a an opening in that position"?

A:May I suggest here that folks give less emphasis to what is fashionable in engagement rings, and go more with A) what is classic and B) what they truly, truly love? After all, we trust you'll be wearing this ring for the rest of your life, and fashions change rapidly. A little OT but speaking of extravagant weddings, diamonds and the like...anyone catch Celine Dion and hubby renewing their vows on Entertainment Tonight? She was carried in by 4 men....camels, cameras, gold everywhere etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. $$$$$.....what was your impression?? My fiance for christmas surprised me with an engagement ring. I could care less what the ring looks like that's the most insiginificant part. The most important thing is the felling behind the ring. I find this subject interesting - there's a long story behind my rings. My husband was engaged for a short period a long time ago. She and he went all over Houston, finding the right design she wanted, having the set made with 18K and putting in perfect diamonds (she was a high class snob and would accept nothing other than perfect diamonds). The day my husband went to pick up the rings and pay for them (she was living in a different state at the time) she called and cancelled the engagement. Now, she knew he was going to pick up the rings that day so why wait until after he bought them? Of course he was stuck with them. The set was gorgeous but really - who needs that many diamonds?? and the setting was 18K which is a little fragile in my mind. So when we got engaged he asked me what I wanted. I told him to take the huge solitaire out of the center of this massive ring (I swear there must have been 18 or 20 diamonds surrounding the solitaire and the band had another 8 diamonds in it) and have it reset, by itself, for me. Then we purchased a separate wedding band. The good news is, I have taken all of these diamonds and had several different rings made since we got married - some with Amethyst (my favorite stone) and some with emeralds. Does she know that her one "perfect" wedding ring became 5??
