Three Piece Wedding Ring Set, Should Wedding Rings Match?

Q: Should Wedding bands for the bride and groom match? Where does the engagement ring come into play here or is the engagement ring a completely separate item? Finally, On which hand (rt or lt) and finger does the engagement ring go?

A:We did not buy matching rings. My band does not go with my engagement ring. I will wear one or the other on my left hand or if I want to wear both I will wear the engagement ring on the right and the wedding band on the left. Most couples I know do not have matching bands but the engagement ring/wedding band are a matched set. I've read some posts where women wear only their band and save the engagement ring for special occasions. Which country are you located in? If you were born and live in the United States, and don't know which finger, then you need to watch some more television. Otherwise, I understand. Not all countries are like the US

A: The engagement ring goes on the left hand...on the finger next to the pinky. As for matching sets..my fiance and I got rings that matched in a few aspects. They were both white gold, and they both had a "multi-rolled" look at least on part of them. What I mean by that, is that his ring looked like four perfectly round bands that had been fused together. My engagement ring had this look on either side of the diamond, but it was only two. On the sides, the two actually fuse to make one around the bottom and up to the other set of two. When I put on the band that matches the engagement ring, it looks like three on either side of the diamond, and two on bottom. We chose to go with a semi-matching set by accident, though. He picked them both out, looking only at what caugt his eye. The rule is really to go with what you like, and what feels comfortable. If you both think you should find something that matches...go for it. If not, then get only what you like. And typically, the second piece to an engagement SET is the wedding band itself.
