Man Finds Wedding Ring ?

Q: When you get into this site, scroll down to where it says, man finds wedding ring. What he did makes it bad for this hobby.

A:What a jerk....but people like him are a rarity in this hobby. Half the fun is finding the person and returning a lost object to them. Nothing can beat the look on their faces. The guy is an opportunist...taking advantage of people when they are most vulnerable. Damned vulture. Hope they take his MD away from him, or make him preform many, many hours of community service! My friend's Mother lost her wedding ring in her garden somewhere. I told her daughter that I would be happy to find it for her, if she would split anything else I might find in her yard. (She lives in on of the earliest settled parts of my town.) She's known me since I was a little girl, and her answer was......."NO!" "I'll have Herman/(her hubby) buy another one.....because if you found something really big, I wouldn't want to share!" She never found her ring, and no one will ever know if there are a few coins in her yard....cut off her nose despite her face! I think the point was that the folks who had lost the ring had offered a substantial reward, and the man in trouble recovered the ring and *knew* its rightful owners; he refused to return it without payment of a substantial 'fee' far in excess of the reward. It will be interesting to argue it in court, but, in any event, 'detectorists' like this give all metal detecting enthusiasts a 'black eye' as far as the general public is concerned.
