Ceremony Programs ?
Q: I know this has been hashed and re-hashed and silly me for not reading
the posts. I am trying to figure out how to make our wedding programs.
I have a good idea what goes in it and how I will print it out, I just
have no idea what it might or should look like. I've only ever seen
one, to hold in my hands and look at, and I didn't really like it. If
anyone knows of any sites were I could find any kind of visual
information I would be forever thankful.
A:I would put a floral design on the front cover to give it a wedding feel.
I would also use a floral picture rather than clip art. That is if you
have one of those nice color ink jets like the Epson Photo Ex that does
1400 dpi. They are raving about this printer at the Computer/Print
Artist bb on Prodigy these days. Wish I had one myself. I have a Cannon
BJC-610 and it does photos beautiful, too. I produce my own brochures
from it. Even though, as a printing dealer, I can get them wholesale, I
prefer to do them myself and use my own artwork.
I put a piece of clip art on the front of us. It's of 2 doves holding
wedding rings, with them meeting together where the wedding rings are
with a circle round them. It doesn't look as tacky as a lot of weddding
clipart, in fact it doesn't look tacky at all and has worked really
well. It took me hours to find it though through all the clip art
archives I could find. So if you put the time into looking then it is
possible to find something amoungst the clip art.
First is the single sheet, usually folded in thirds like a brochure. It can be
on plain parchment or colored paper, or on a "designed" brochure with pictures
of rings, flowers, whatever. Specialty paper is available at stationery
stores, paper catalogs (Paper Direct is the best known -- they've a website
which I think is, logically enough, paperdirect.com), and through wedding
invitation catalogs.
It has the bride's and groom's names, the wedding date, and maybe a picture of
some sort (of bells or flowers, or of the B&G, or of the wedding site) on the
front panel. The inside center panel has the order of service (i.e.,
processional, invocation, sermon, exchange of vows, etc.) with any notes about
responses or actions for the guests and the other two inside panels have the
names of the wedding party members, possibly including the parents, any readers
or other participants, and the officiant if not identified in the order of
service, plus the titles and names of composers and performers of all musical
selections to be used (if this is only the processional and recessional it can
be included in the order of service section), plus any other brief information,
dedications, etc. the B&G wish to impart to the guests.
I just happen to have a scanner, a snappy and am able to get some great
art that way. I'm sure yours is fantastic. I have made floral
arrangements and things like that and happen to like to use it this way.
It is a hobby of mine. I don't think it would look tacky to use clip art.
Some is quite beautiful.
