Student Looking To The Engineering Field

Q: i am currently a senior in highschool. my sophomore year i noticed that my math scores were quite a bit higher than the rest and that i enjoyed math class. for the past two years i have been looking into the engineering field as my career choice. i have applied to an engineering college, but still waiting on the letter. i'm here look to find someone to mentor me a little bit just to see if what i am doing in preparations for the engineering field is proper. and also i'd like to know what jobs are out there in each engineering field.

A: Which engineering field depends greatly on your interests. (I have my BS in Electrical Engineering, I work in micro-electronics). Check out a college website, (that has an engineering school); it will give you an idea

of what is expected for a typical courseload in each discipline. try ==> http://www.wpi.edu/Academics/Depts/ (where I went to college, a decent place, 80% guys though, that sucked). Engineering is way more than being good at math. But if you can grasp high levels of Math such as Calculus, Differential Equations, Stats etc... you usually have the mental ability to grasp the engineering ideas used (for example understanding Thermodynamics) Also, if you go to college, learn how to handle your booze, it will be the greatest lesson you'll learn in life. And don't say "I don't drink" they all say that on day one, but by october, they are doing body shots off co-eds.
