Loan Forgiveness Regarding Ontario And Canadian Student Loans?
Q: I was wondering if there are any programs or policies regarding load reduction or debt relief for people who have been paying their studnet loans but are now facing financial difficulties. If my memory serves me right, I thought there were some programs but a friend disagrees. Can anyone please clarify the programs or policies for debt relief or loan forgiveness regarding Ontario and Canadian student loans.
A: Yeah there are. If you've used up all your interest free relief, then after I think a certain period of time you are able to get debt reduction. It's not much though, you have to make practically nothing in a year for any significant amount to come off of your loan. I should know, I'm still paying my loan I got back in '92 ;) Why don;t you just stop paying it? Screw the Government.
