To Dave Paxton - What Happened With The Wind Generator?

Q: I believe you were the person who posted here early last year that you were refining a "new design" of wind-powered generator for backwoods use, that you would be soon marketing. I don't see any results at your web site - what's the status? Did you get something in production/drop the idea/still working on it? I've built my own in the meantime, and bought two commercial units, but always interested in what another experimenter might be accomplishing. Also interested in hearing from other like-minded folks interested in alternative power ideas. Does anyone have solar panels on his/her home? Hopefully, in the next few years, my husband and I will be in a different financial position and will be able to build our home. We are looking into solar energy. Though we might not be in the best location for it, but we don't plan on staying in NJ. I'd like to hear from people who use solar energy. How is it? Is there a faq somewhere?

A: I'm working on various alternative energy schemes to use at a deer camp. I've got the system designed, but I'm still looking for some really cheap solar panels. I'm looking for a prop to use on the windmill, too. Most of this would be too small for your house anyway. The most useful source so far has been Home Power magazine. They have a web page - www.homepower.com. Also, a lot of the alternative energy catalogs are very informative - I like Sunelco and Backwoods Solar Electric Systems. Both charge for their catalogs, but you get some good info for the money. Backwoods Solar Electric is $3.00 from: Steve & Elizabeth Wiley 8530-HP Rapid Lightning Creek Rd. Sandpoint Idaho 83864 Ph # 208-263-4290 Sunelco is $5.00. They have a web page - www.sunelco.com Sunelco 100 Skeels St. POB 787 Hamilton Montana 59840-0787 I also recommend Lehman's Non-Electric catalog - $3.00 http://www.lehmans.com Ph # 330-857-5785 Lehman Hardware and Appliances One Lehman Circle POB 41 Kidron Ohio 44636 I guess I'm going to have to put together a complete list and post it. I've got several web sites to recommend, so I'll post them later.
