Hydrogen, Solar Panels, And Energy Crisis

Q: There are tens of billions of flywheels in use today for power storage. There are probably six flywheels in use today for energy storage, most of which are subsidized.

A: $30,000 worth of PV system will produce about about 5 kw peak. At 110 volts that's about 45 amps. Most houses have a 200 amp service nowadays so it's not for sure that $30,000 is enough. And that's a $30,000 upfront cost agianst $1,000 or less per year of electric bills (I'm assuming that if $30,000 of PVs will do you then your annual electric's got to be less than a grand. If your average electric bill is more than a grand then $30,000 of PVs ain't going to run your house). And PVs only last about 25 years. My guestimate is that if you are building a new house where electricity costs 15 cents a kw-hr you'd break even by getting a PV system in the house and having it included in the 25 year mortage and eliminating the electric bill.
