A: Unfortunately the educational system in England is not yet so advanced that they teach engineering at schools. You can however do electrical engineering at a number of universities or polytechnics (which are also called universi- ties now). For example, the universities of London (Imperial College, King's College, University college - they operate as totally separate departments) Southampton, Surrey, Bristol, Bath, Edinburgh (Scotland, not England), Oxford, Cambridge all have good electrical engineering (sometimes called "electrical and

electronic engineering") departments (or sections of departments for the ancient universities). Some have taught Master's courses, while at others you can do a PhD in 3 years directly after a Bachelor's degree. At Oxford tuition and fees for a foreign student are about UKL8800. I don't know what they are at other places, but it will not be a lot less, maybe 20% less at most? Living expenses for 12 months are probably between L5000 and L6000 (the official average is L5700 - from the graduate prospectus). So L15000 should do it. Also add the L30 you pay to register with the police as a legal alien. But you might meet Inspector Morse when you go to the police station.
