Sapphire And Silver Ring

Q: Does anyone out there do custom jewlery? I am looking for information on how I could acquire a sapphire ring set in silver. This would serve as my engagement ring (I hate gold). I'm looking for about .50 carat.

to go to a jewelry store/craftsperson's shop and look at existing designs. There you will get to look at a range of styles, prices, etc. You will also be able to get some advice about what will or will not look good or work well as a piece of jewelry. This applies both to the design of the piece in itself and how it will look on you -- for instance, if you have a large frame, a dainty piece of filigree work may look absurd on your size 8 finger. Or it might go wonderfully with the 14th century costumes you always wear to the office. Don't forget to consider how your wedding band and your fiance's (if any) will look as a "set" with the engagement ring.
