Anybody Take Elavil Or Any Tricyclic Antidepressant During The Day??

Q: What works for me is Doxepin and Flexeril. Although right now I'm in a clinical research study for a pain med (pregabalin - son of Neurontin), so I'm not taking anything antidepressant-wise. I also have S.

A: D., and it's in high gear right now. Usually I start taking Paxil (paroxetine) starting in the fall, but because of this study am not able to. Funny thing with this study is that all "supplements" fall under "multi-vitamin." So I'm taking a KavaKava & St. Johns Wort supplement, as well as SAMe. Not totally in the sewer yet, but struggling. Haven't been getting much good sleep while in this study. Am looking forward to returning to level 4 sleep.

A:I cannot take a tricyclic of any kind. They have a pardoxal effect on me and my heart pounds and I am awake for days. I have been through them all and out of 3 doctors, only one believed what was going on. I finally put my foot down and said "NO" although that doesn't always work..Good luck to you...Stay Warm...Regards...Paula I can't take them either. And I no longer have to because a shrink said I get the paradoxical effects from Elavil and Flexeril. Certain MR's - skelaxin in particular - relax me enough on flaring nights to get some sleep. Sorry I couldn't be more help...but I'm in your same boat. I'm starting MSM this Monday. Neither can I. They make me so foggy, no matter what amount is taken, that I cannot think, have a hard time seeing well, and am really "just out of it".
