Alcohol And Rehab

Alcoholism is a kind of disease which is getting more and more spread among the young people. The last research shows that 2 per cent of the men and 1 per cent of the women have problems with the alcoholic drinks- of course they are not all in the group of alcoholics as "addiction" is a little bit strong word for their habit to consume more alcohol than needed.

But there is something even worse which we must admit- our society and governments do not pay enough attention to that problem. As you could see, it is something serious but what we do is nothing. There are very few governments which have passed bills and provided free medicine for the alcoholism treatment and it is not surprising that those are the wealthy countries such as the USA, United Kingdom, France and Germany.

But why don't the other governments follow the example of those countries, the leaders of the world? Of course, it is the financial issue- the governments consider that it is not a serious problem and money should be spent only on medicines for cancer, osteoporosis and so on. Please don't get me wrong! I realize that those diseases are like a plague for our society and the government should definitely release funds but the point is that the alcohol rehab is also something very difficult and an effective treatment cannot be provided without effective medicine, and as you know they are extremely expensive!

I bet that very few of you know how complicated the alcoholism rehab is! You probably do not know that the psychologists and their work are of great significance because the people having that problem should realize that there really is a problem and it is theirs! And you do not have any idea how difficult that could be- to make somebody say: "Yes, I have a problem and I must cope with it". Please pay attention to the word "must" because it is the key to someone's rehab- an alcohol-addicted person should feel the necessity to solve the problem because of his/her own benefit! Even if a person spends 1 year in rehab being treated with the most expensive medicines, he or she will still not quit the alcohol unless he/she has realized that it is harmful!

I am sure that despite all these facts, there are many of you who still do no realize the seriousness of that disease. But our society will not cope with that problem unless we start taking it as a problem!
