Acid Reflux Foods

Q: For those that are dealing with symptoms of acid reflux and are controlling it by making dietary adjustments. From your experience, what foods will typically aggravate the condition for you? From your experience, what foods have you found to be safe to eat? Safe, meaning what foods can you eat and not produce an acid reflux condition.

A:Tomato-based foods, especially if they've got a bunch of spices. I have to stay away from the best salsas when I'm having problems. Tomato based stuff, onions, peppers, coffee, alcoholic stuff, anything fried, anything in vinegar or smoked, horseradish (like wasabi, or salad dressing), mustard, juices (especially citrus and cranberry). When my reflux is acting up, I've found the best thing to eat is Gaviscon (lived on it during my pregnancies). But potatoes w/sour cream help, too. Dale finds that if she stays away from spicy/or tomato based foods it helps. We've also raised the head of the bed about 10 ". Some mornings I almost find myself on the floor
