Attorney Legal Services

Attorneys do many things for their clients. It is their job to provide their clients with up to date legal advice, criminal defense strategy, helping you with your tax and IRS problems and disputes, dealing with your real estate purchases and sales, and just about every other legal service that you could need. Some attorneys do not have the right to choose their clients such as prosecutors, and court ordered defense attorneys. Other attorneys do get to choose their own clients such as personal injury lawyers, criminal lawyers, and personal lawyers. A lawyer may refuse to represent you because they believe you are guilty of a crime, they do not feel that you have a case for filing a lawsuit etc. and they may feel that you are not being truthful with them. Attorneys do a great deal of things for their clients and most of us know that defending your right and informing you of your rights are some of them. However, there are other services that attorney does perform such as: Helping you with dealing with the IRS Helping you file a lawsuit Helping you to deal with your will and estate in the event of your death Helping you to get a document notarized Helping you to draw up contracts and assist you in understanding contracts Taking victim affidavits for witness not appearing in court Advise you on anything that involves the law For all of the things that a lawyer can do for you there are many that an attorney cannot do as well. An attorney cannot offer you legal advice in area of the law that they are not qualified in for example, a criminal attorney cannot give you legal advice on tax laws. What he/she can do is refer you to a tax attorney. Here are some more things that an attorney cannot do: Give you orders on what you should do Threaten you Disclose any of your personal information to anyone without your permission, such as living address, where you work or how much money you make Disclose any of your conversation with him or her to anyone; not even a policeman, judge or prosecutor Change their mind about representing you without notifying you There are many things that a lawyer can do and just as many that they can't. The more you know, the better. Before you take on the services of a lawyer, you should make sure that you are seeking a lawyer that has experience in the area that you are seeking advice in. You should also be honest when speaking to any lawyer as they are not permitted to disclose anything that you have said anyways. Any lawyer that reveals anything that you have said will be disbarred and lose their ability to practice law.
