Qualify For ACE Recommendation Credit And Anything About Ccrs.

Q: How can I find out what commercial courses I might have taken that might qualify for ACE Recommendation credit? I searched through the ACE Web site but couldn't get any insight. For instance, I've taken some courses from Oracle Corp. Might they qualify?

A: ACE publishes "College Credit Recommendations: The Directory of the National Program on Non-Collegiate Sponsored Instruction," but it's not generally available (Amazon.com lists a 1986 version that ships in several weeks.) The only place I see it is in registrar's offices. If you are near a community college, ask who in their registrar or admissions office does transfer credit articulation and see if she has a copy you can look at. I just finished my OCP Database Administrator exams and they're not approved yet for college credit. (IMO they won't be. The College Credit Recommendation Service (CCRS) of ACE seems to steer away from programs that are mostly vendor-specific.) The only computer-related vendor training I know of that is ACE/CCRS approved so far is the Novell CNA/CNE program.
