Hotel La Fonda In Baja

A Rustic Californian Getaway Just straddling the Californian border is an exotic tourist destination known as The La Fonda Hotel in Baja, California. Built in the 1950s this old hotel brings to mind just one word: nostalgia. The rustic rooms don't boast of TV sets hooked up on cables or satellite dishes, mini bars, telephones, or ports to connect to the internet. But see, this is what makes the La Fonda Hotel- a well known favorite- special. If you are looking for a place to have a romantic weekend, or just somewhere to get away from it all, La Fonda is the place to be. Perched a cliff overlooking an often deserted beach, La Fonda offers you the opportunity to disconnect from the world without even whipping out your passport. All of its rooms offer seaside views which let you enjoy the fresh ocean breeze and its majestic sunrises. Although there are newer, more modern rooms with more upscale amenities, there is still nothing that can compare to the rustic charm of the old rooms. The old rooms are apartment style units that are equipped with its own kitchenettes, comfortable beds, and for some, even an old fireplace. They can be reached by winding 50's staircases much like the pathway to the sand. Since it is right next to the sea, La Fonda can get chilly during the winter months, so it might be a good idea to ask for the rooms with a fireplace. The modern rooms are all under controlled room temperature, but the old ones still really depend on fire and wood to warm up its temporary residents. The hotel boasts a restaurant, a lounge, spa, and beach access. The restaurant is a real find: palm fronds and bamboos decorate the causal bar, which is also famous for its drinks and food. Conveniently located near Ensanada (it is just a 45 minute drive south) and Puerto Nuevo (a mere 8 miles up the road)--if you ever decide to tear yourself from this wonderful hideaway. The best part of it all is that all this can be had for a very reasonable price. But booking might be a bit tricky, as the La Fonda has it's own string of regulars and even more coming back. So if you're in a mood for a place to get away from it all and disconnect yourself from the world, all you have to do is to hop in your car and head towards the California and Mexico border.
