Arthur Harassment Port Sexua

Q: Not the usual. Nearby Port Arthur was the drop off point for a lot of Vietnamese refugees. So you have a lot of whites vs blacks vs Vietnamese vs who know...may the lefthanded people? My theater was a dollar theater, and I had an all white staff when I arrived, while the majority of my clientele was either black or oriental. When much of the white staff quit after the Christmas shootout, the only people that applied were minorities. To my surprise and pleasure, confrontations with customers went down. I also hired a female black assistant manager, after Mario (who was also black and had been there for many years) turned it down. While we were all a lot safer, my city manager told me to "bleach" my theater, he didn't like the way it looked now. I told him, you get some whites to apply THAT WERE QUALIFIED and I would hire them. None did. The city manager was later brought up on sexual and racial harassment which he beat, for the SECOND time. I testified for my assistant, whom he had made remarks to. Didn't help my relations with him, let me tell you. One funny story from those days. After the shootout, I had told my employees that if they knew anyone that could handle the work, to have them apply. Carmike Cinemas, in the ultimate wisdom, only sends out office supplies once a month. I had no applications for them to fill out. One gentleman came in, and I asked him to write his name and phone number on a napkin. Later one, he told me he knew I was just stringing him along and I would toss that napkin after he left. This was after he had been there a year, and went on to be an assistant at another theater. The gun? Perhaps a very natural respect for them. I could survive my taser or mace being used on me, a gun I could not. Plus I felt it was a bit too far to go. Didn't stop two fellow with uzis from holding me up once, though.
