Don't Let Your Mail Be Junk Mail

If you are a business that using direct mail marketing, the last words you want to here are "junk mail." However, that is exactly what a lot of marketing efforts are called. There is no way to completely ensure that your messages won't be deemed junk mail. However, there are ways to steer away from junk mail and head toward "special offers," or equally better terms. One way that you can prevent your marketing effort from being tossed into the junk mail pile is to send it to the right people. Make sure that the names that you are sending to are correct. Also, make sure that your mailing lists contain people that would have a use for your product. Another way to keep from being junk mail is to capture attention as quickly as possible. Put only the main point at the top. Don't clutter the heading with too many details, or people might not even get through the headline. Keep your message short and simple. Be creative. If you can make a consumer stop and look twice, you are much more likely to get the response that you are looking for. If you can't draw attention, you will definitely be junk mail. Don't ignore your existing customer base. You want their continued patronage, so show it. If you send to those who have already shown interest and support, you are likely to avoid a junk mail standing there, and that is what you are going for. Of course, junk mail is not completely useless. Creative art teachers can always find a way to use this junk mail. However, that is not at all a better alternative from a marketing standpoint. Even if recycling is good for the environment, we don't want our messages to be recycled before they get across to the consumer base.
