LG Electronics is a dynamic global electronics company which was first established in South Korea in 1958 as GoldStar and some of its first products were radios. In 1962 the company began exporting to the United States and Hong Kong. The sixties also brought a new wave of consumer products from LG including refrigerators, washing machines, televisions, and air conditioners. In the seventies GoldStar went public and it also saw the development and manufacture of color televisions for the first time. In 1978 the company exported over $100 million dollar in exports, the first Korean company to reach that level. The eighties saw the first sales subsidiary developed in the European Union, in Germany and the first tv plant was established in the United States in Huntsville. Sales soared to over I trillion Korean Won and plants and subsidiaries were added in Germany and Thailand. The nineties brought additional growth in Europe with the establishment of a design technology base in Ireland and the opening of the market with China. In 1995 the company bought Zenith and changed the company’s name to LG Electronics. In addition an Indian subsidiary was established in 1997 and the company continued to create new and better electronic products including the 40-inch television and the world’s first 60- inch tv. In the 2000’s the company launched the first Internet enabled refrigerator, washing machine, air conditioner, and microwave oven. In 2003 LG Electronics developed the world’s first synchronous-asynchronous IMT-2000 mobile phone and the world's largest television; 76-inches. The company’s CDMA mobile handsets also took the largest share

in the American CDMA market. LG Electronics is a very deeply motivated company. Even their company symbols, logos, and colors have great meaning. According to their website, the letters "L" and "G" in a circle symbolize the World, Future, Youth, Humanity, and Technology. It also represents LG's efforts to keep close relationships with their customers in the world. The logo consists of two elements; the LG letterforms in LG Grey and the face symbol in the unique LG Red color. Red, the main color, represents their friendliness, and also gives a strong impression of LG's commitment to the best. Therefore, the shape or the color of this symbol mark must never be changed.
