Hk Financial Secretary Using Official Letterhead Writing For His Son's Interest

Q: HK Financial Secretary using official letterhead writing for his son's interest It was reported that Financial Secretary had wrote letter to the Medical Council making a plea that the examination that every practitioner not graduating in Hong Kong has to pass to practise in Hong Kong be scrapped. He quoted as saying that his son was a medic in the UK. Basically it's nothing' special. But the Secretary used an official letter head to write for such a personal purpose. Is this mad? He still insisted that it was his "practice" to do so! He claimed that he was not utilizing his powers to press on the issue. I think even if it is true, in effect he has done so! I am not interested in whether he has abused his powers, which are poorly limited as you can guess. My worry is that we have such an official having this level of mentality to carelessly use official property for such a personal reason. How comes such a kind of official who is leading us through 1997.

A: I won't agree with you more. They are nobody but grown-up politicians. Still, they abuse their power and execise their influence for their own interests. I am very disappointed. For Anson's case, we don't know what really happened. Maybe some body wanna lobby something or so and granted her a big time favour. She should have turned it down. There is no universal rules as what is right or wrong for some occasions. When somebody doesn't have to be responsible for their behaviour or no one balances their power, things like that would likely to happen. What a sad reality! No democracy. No fairness.
