What Is The Current Status Of Sexual Harassment Laws?
Q: It's hard to describe what Sexual Harrassment is. The stuff I hear at work is
seen allsorts really, arses been smacked, sexual jokes. It seems like
everything and anything can be done.
This guy once shouted to this girl ,in front of loads of customers, that he
wanted a blowjob from her. She was on the till at the time and the customers
heared every word. Nothing was done to him.
What is the current status of these laws?
A: As for me, well 4 years ago I was actually accussed of sexual harrassment. What really pisses me off is that nothing happened. I didn't say or do a thing. The girl complained about me because she said I made her uncomfortable. So I didn't say anything or do anything to offend this woman, what I did wrong was to get within 5 yards of her while I worked. And to make matters worse, the Manager warned all the new starters that they should be carefull with a male member of staff. They should watch themselves and If this guy did anything then he wanted to know about it. Yea, the laws can be really stupid. If I remember the handout we are given as TAs, anything from looking at a girl onwards is sexual harassment. And they almost always assume the woman complaining is right. The status of the current laws are completely fucked. Quite simply, don't play the game where you work. Far too dangerous.
