Top Divorce Attorneys

Q: Does anyone live in the Fairfield, CA region? My step-daughter lives in the Fairfield, CA area (between Sacramento and San Francisco). She will be in need of a GOOD divorce attorney. She is in a situation of abuse but because of CA idiotic divorce and child custody laws, she cannot get away from her husband. She would need to come and live with us so we could help financially but that would be crossing state lines out of CA and cause for her to be charged with kidnapping the kids out of CA. As a mid-20's person who has not worked outside of the home, her finances are weak to say the least. Maybe she can work out some terms for any future legal financial needs. Can anyone suggest a good and kind-hearted attorney from whom she can get some consultation?

A: In my experience, female divorce attorneys tend to be very aggresive and I have had good results with them. Women in general usually have to "try harder" to be attorney, and on top of that, a female may fight harder for another female, as she can empathize more closely with the client. Why would she be guilty of kidnapping? They are her kids! She is not legally separated, and the other parent has custody! If she leaves her husband, jurisdiction of the case will depend on who files first! IO would suggest that she take the kids, go home, or to your house, where ever that is, while she is still in legal control of the kids, and beat the abuser to the punch by filing for the separation first! As one who has been through this 3 times, and gotten custody of my kids both times that it applies, I can say that any lawyer will be first and foremost out to line his or her pockets. I have has both male and female lawyers. They really do not care much about the two people involved, only how long and how nasty they can make this divorce. And, the word legal is only a word to be used when it can best convince a judge that the illegal things that they did were warranted!
