Personalized Man Jewelry

Q: I've spent days on-line, and weeks in shopping malls, to no avail. I'm getting married on next Sunday, and myself and my husband-to-be are supposed to exchange gifts. The criteria is something special that will last forever, that we can both look at every day and remember our love for each other. He supposedly has the perfect gift for me, but I'm sooo stumped. I can't think of anything, I want it to be really special. Hopefully some of you can give me some helpful advice/hints/ideas. I'm desperate, we met in a kind of unique situation so i don't know if I should base it on that. We are both military, and met while TDY to the country of Kuwait. Any help for me???

A:You've set some lofty goals during an already emotional time. We opted to choose something together on our honeymoon, and we also agreed that we didn't need the stress of trying to achieve "perfection" in a gift exchange. Here are some ideas : A bottle of vintage wine and two goblets with a message "not to be opened until our 50th anniversary" -A classic book, personalized with a special message -A family heirloom from your family welcoming your spouse -A music box/ jewelry box -A personal journal you've kept during the engagement -A watch with romantic inscription -Jewelry (pearls, watches, something that lasts), -Sweetheart of a Man:"When my wife and I got married, I was thinking about traditional gifts (ie. pearls, etc) but realized that because I am a student I do not have enough money for quality jewelry. Because I love her too much to get her something low quality, I decided to give her a nice jewelry box to hold the things that I will give her throughout our marriage. The great thing with this is that I have no fear that it will go out of style, and no fear that it will get lost or stolen."
