Man Black Diamond Jewelry
Q: Last night we attended a holiday party at the home of friends and I wore black
velveteen pants, black RL pointy toed mules & a silk nubby blouse in silver
plus lots of silver & diamond jewelry. Besides the usual suspects at the
party, there was an exceptionally handsome tall, dark stranger. I made sure to
meet him! (merry christmas to me) Was there anyone exciting at your holiday
party this weekend?
This evening we're off to another friend's home for a more casual dinner - DH
is looking hotter than a pistol in a black heavy knit ribbed turtleneck - man,
it does wonders for his (prematurely) white hair.....so I will follow suit with
a black merino wool v neck shell with a matching long cardigan and black wool
pants. I think I'll pull out some of the good jewels to liven things up.......
A:Last night I wore a black Noviello Bloom dinner suit, black peau de soie
slingbacks, gold, diamond, and emerald jewelry, and a full-length mahogany
mink coat. Oh, and for the full festive effect, I wore contact lenses. No
sexy librarian glasses for me.
Saturday morning we did a gingerbread house party with the kids, and for
that, seasonally-appropriate yet casual wear seemed called for. I wasn't
sure what the other mommies were going to be wearing, but I figured I'd
end up with frosting all over myself if I tried too hard. So I wore black
wool slacks, a pearl gray silk sweater, and a Gucci scarf with a red
border. The scarf's design is a four seasons still life done with flowers,
so I folded it so the holly and Christmas roses would be showing when I
tied it. That seemed right.
I have two more cocktail-y things to go to and one more casual--then we'll
do Christmas and be off for a week in Disneyworld, so no big black tie New
Year's bash for me.
I bought a pair of red silk/wool slacks at Talbots, and I'm sure I'll wear
them to the casual party, maybe with a new white or cream sweater. For the
dressier cocktail-y occasions, I'm thinking of springing for another dinner
suit or two. Serendipitously enough, a sale catalog showed up today from
Neiman Marcus with some pretty things. Maybe I can get one in time for one
of these occasions.
