Looking For A Ruby White Gold Engagment Ring....help Please ?

Q: I am looking for a engagment ring for my girl frien and i want some thing uneek. But all i have been able to find is gody lookig rings that look like costume jewelry . does any one have any pictures of such a ring.

A: I have plenty of pictures, but it is not allowed to post these to news groups, and since you supply a bogus email address I cannot send you anything either. our bands are white gold too. Mine was an antique 18K with engravings on it, and his was made for him. All he did was look through a Jostens catalog in our jewelers, and with a little modifications (he wanted a 6mm instead of a 5mm ring), presto--the ring was made! We didn't have to pay anything extra to have it made in white gold, but we did pay extra to have it widened. If you choose this route, make sure you get a written estimate from the jeweler on what the ring will ultimately cost. My fiance went back to the jeweler at least 3 times just to get his ring selection right, and every time, they were able to get him an estimate. However, if you don't want the trouble to have it made (you have to wait about 2 weeks for your ring), I know that Best carries plain white gold bands. Hiya there! When I found the "engagement" ring (it isn't *really* an engagement ring, but we're using it as one because I fell in love with it) I wanted, they only had it in yellow gold in the store. We were able to order it in white gold though, but it took about a month to get to the store because it had to be custom made overseas. It didn't cost anything extra to have this done. The white gold is less karats of pure gold though: white gold is about 10 karat, yellow gold is usually 14 or 24 karat. But, if you really want white gold, as I did, you can typically get a ring made in it. You may want to check around early to find a place that won't charge you anything extra. Also, be sure to leave yourself extra time in case they have to have it made overseas, like my engagement ring was. Oh, and be sure that you can get the rings you choose in white gold before you set your heart on them. I found that some rings, for whatever reason, can't be made in white gold.
