Laci: More Jewelry Musing

Q: Ok, so Laci, Brent and Amy inherit some estate jewelry from grandma, the bulk of the value tied up in one rock or set of rocks that Laci is putting in her wedding ring. How were Brent and Amy supposed to divide *that* up? And why was it so important that the ring be finished by Xmas eve?

A:I thought Brent and Amy were supposed to inherit money, not necessarily jewelry. Laci was the oldest girl, right? She may have received certain jewelry and Amy got other things, or different jewelry, as well as cash. Maybe Laci had a special relationship with the grandmother. I mean, apparently this particular jewelry skipped Laci's aunts and went to her... Families have their own ways of dividing up things. I got the jewelry from my grandmother, my sister got the crystal and silver, it was talked about ahead of time with our grandmother. When my grandfather died, my sister got his car, I got the cash equivalent. Maybe Laci's the big jewelry gal, and the other female members of the family either aren't, or got other pieces of jewelry. Who said the ring had to be finished by Christmas eve? Scott, the jewelry people, or Laci? If Scott wanted it done by then, it was so it would "disappear" with Laci, of course. Petty crime in addition to the murder -- stripping off her jewelry, selling it eventually and also claiming insurance on it.
