Jewelry Making Tips .
Q: I'm looking for tips on making jewlery I am a 9th lvl mage got me the
book on how and the kit but don't know what is really worth my time and
money to make. Also the book for lewlers mentions unlock the magicla
properties of the gems placed in jewlery, is a spell needed to do this if so
which ones.
A:First tip: unless you have high level characters (your own or friends)
to give money to your mage, and have a good friend who is an enchanter,
jewelrymaking is not worth it. After alchemy, jewelcraft is the most
expensive skill to raise; it can cost upwards of 5000pp to get to the
high 190-200 range skill. Most of the low level items you make will not
be very profitable; only when you get to some gold, and then platinum,
can you even hope to recoup the amount of platinum you have spent (and
even that is questionable). Magical jewelry can only be made by
enchanting the bars of metal before you combine them with gems; the
spells to do this are unique to the enchanter class (enchant silver at
8, electrum at 16, gold at 24, and platinum at 34).
If you are dead-set on it, and enjoy a real challenge, then go for it.
Otherwise, you'd do better to save your money and buy the items you want
from an established jewelcrafter.
