Chinese Design Silk Shirt With A Chinese Jewelry

Q: I imagine most of the women will be in beaded gowns. But I was thinking a pair of dressy black pants and a Chinese design silk shirt with a Chinese jewelry set (parue is it called?) I wouldn't even consider this if it were a charity ball type affair, but it's a birthday party. What do you think?

A: I think if the party is, indeed, black tie, that this outfit is totally inappropriate. In fact, it's barely appropriate for semi-formal. black tie for a woman should be after 6pm and consists of a formal, ankle-length or longer gown. if you care, then this is the end of the story.
