Vonage Stock Symbol

Vonage has no stock symbol at the moment because the company is privately owned and not quoted on the New York Stock Exchange but this might be a case for "Watch this Space". Vonage is majoring in broadband internet provision with operations in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. Using existing high-speed Internet connections and a touch-tone telephone, the technology allows anyone, anywhere in the world to initiate or receive voice telephone calls. The quality of telephone service and enhanced internet provision are only possible with digital technology. Vonage claims to offer "an innovative, feature-rich and cost effective alternative to traditional telephony services". The company offers its services to both the individual and business. Vonage was Founded in January 2001 and operates from premises in Edison, New Jersey. It would be fascinating to know if the choice of location was influence by the name of the community! Vonage is a privately held company which employs in excess of 1400 people at it's various locations. Growth has been steady, currently the network is handling over 10 million telephone calls each week over eight hundred thousand active lines. As things stand, there are gaps in it's area of coverage. In Canada, there is no service yet available in Saskatchewan, the Northern Territories, Yukon and in some parts of the Maritime Provinces. In the USA, Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and West Virginia have no service but in The United Kingdom, the whole area is covered, both Great Britain itself (England, Wales and Scotland) and Northern Ireland. One of the main selling stories that Vonage tells is of it's "Feature Rich" portfolio of services. Some of the features would temp the question "why?" but they are taken up and used. It is for example, possible to live or work on the West Coast and still have a New York telephone area code. With the time differential, might that not generate calls when they were least welcome - or maybe it would help with potential customers not being discouraged from making telephone calls during their own normal working hours. The list of free services is extensive - it includes "Voicemail Plus", Caller ID with Name, Call Waiting, Call Forwarding, Click-2-Call, Call Return and many more. "Free" services like these are, of course, gradually being phased in by the traditional operators as they commission the equipment and systems needed. Traditional thinking has to be left behind in matters like these today - not only are consumers (telephone users in this case) coming to expect them and take them as the norm but, once the equipment is installed and confirmed to be working properly, the costs of supplying these extras is infinitesimally small. Not withstanding the extent of the service package offered, Vonage claim to be very economical to use. They offer special rates for 411, extra dedicated fax lines at $9.99 per month and claim that their International call rates are particularly cheap. The company appears to be ambitious - immediate plans include filling the gaps in coverage and expanding the range of services offered. This might be a business to keep in mind as a potential investment opportunity when the time is right.
