How To Obtain A Private Investigator License

There are many requirements and qualifications to get a job and a private investigator license. Every state has different standards but a majority of the standards for a private investigator license are the same every where. Corporate investigators hired by large companies may receive formal training from their employers on business practices, management structure, and various finance related topics. The screening process for potential private investigator and detective jobs typically includes a background check. Applicant must have five years of experience in the area of investigation and pass a State Board examination to get a private investigator license. To get a private investigator license applicant must also obtain liability insurance with limits in amounts of not less than $200,000.00. The applicant must also pay fees. To get a private investigator license these fees include a background investigation deposit which is $750.00 for the first category of license and $250.00 for each additional category of license for which application is made, which must be applied to the cost of conducting the investigation. There is a ceiling price of $1,500.00 for the first category of private investigator license and $500.00 for each additional category of private investigator license for which application is made on an Individual applicant. The same applies for corporate applicants except there is no ceiling price on the investigation. All of this and more must be done for a person to obtain a private investigator license; there may also be other requirements that are not listed here for certain local places or states.
