Student Health Insurance
Student health insurance is a type of an individual health insurance plan that is specifically available for students in college or university who are over the age of 18 and are no longer fully covered by their parent's medical plan once they move out of the home. Student health insurance for students is an important investment for your children as they attend school to earn their post secondary education. Students often have a high rate of injury and will often get sick as they handle the pressures and stresses of school. In order for a student to be eligible for student health insurance they must be between the ages of 17 to 29. The student who is an undergrad will qualify for student health insurance so long as they are in school for at least nine credit hours. A graduate student must be in the graduate program of the university or college to be eligible for student health insurance. Another qualifying factor is that the school that the student attends must be a state-accredited college or university in the United States. Many colleges and universities will offer students a group student health insurance plan that is available through the school. Each university will have a different student health insurance plan so it's best to find out from the school that the student is attending just what the plan is and what the qualifying factors are. You can also apply for student health insurance through a health insurance company. There are many benefits to having a student health insurance plan. One of the most important benefits is the cost of the insurance itself. Many student health insurance plans will have low payable premiums as well as a very reasonable deductible for those students who have a limited amount of funds to rely on while they are attending school. Yet another benefit is that once a student has bought their student health insurance plan it won't change during the time the student is attending school. When it comes to student health insurance there are different plans available. The standard plan may be all that most students need since they'll be covered for basic medical treatments that are essential to good health. Some of this standard medical coverage includes doctor visits and outpatient care, prescription coverage, and any inpatient hospitalization that is needed.
