Pay Income Tax Online
Paying your income taxes online can actually save you a lot of time and even money if you do it correctly.
Filling and paying your income taxes online is actually almost the exact same as filing them on paper through the mail minus the part where you actually have to sit down and write in all your answers.
When you file online usually you will file through a third party such as a HR Block or another tax preparation company. The reason that these companies let you use their online services for free is that in the end right before you file your taxes they will ask if you want them looked over by a professional and try to sell you upgrades to what you already wanted. You can of course also just pay someone to file them for you if you wish.
TO file online you will need the same information that you would need to file your regular taxes. You need your W-2's and any other tax forms that you have received throughout the year such as 1099's.
Once you are online you will type in the correct amount into each spot. Some people actually find filing online easier than on paper because each box gets a longer explanation as to what you need to put into it then it gets on the paper due to size constraints. Anther thing that is easier about online filing is that online they can automatically check to see if you are qualified for any tax breaks or rebates based on the information that you fill in and extra questions that they may ask you.
Once you fill everything in online you will be asked to double check all of your work. Although this may seem redundant there is actually a good reason for it. When typing people often make more mistakes then when they are filling in something on paper because there is less actual work involved in typing then there is in writing it out by hand.
In the end you will be asked to keep a copy for your records and you will send your taxes online to the IRS. Once you do this you can also pay online if you owe taxes or you can mail in a check if you want.
