How To Make Business Cards

Q: Is there a generic template for creating business cards in PS that can be easily printed out on the standard business card paper sheets If not, is there a tutorial on the best method to create business cards in PS. I know there are lots of business card software packages, but I thought there would be a great way to do it in PS. Also, can anyone direct me to some good tutorials on how to use the healing tool, background eraser tool and magic eraser tool? I haven't learned too much about those tools and understand they can be very helpful. Appreciate any help.

A: -I own version 7 but use Microsoft Publisher 2002 XP for business cards. Use Photoshop first for any image work and then import them in Publisher or some other similar program. As for the tuts ...visit my friend Janee at www.myjanee.com . She writes excellent tutorials and even runs a Photoshop contest. -Photoshop has in one of its menu pull-downs a button that enables placing guide lines. You may choose precise locations by distance from the paper edge. Once you set the guide lines, you know the rectangular dimensions - from this you crop the card pictures to those dimensions. You can use the Text facility

to put name address etc on the image. Once you get your images the way you want drag them into the grids. I saw some microperforated 8 1/2 x 11 card stock which was arranged for 10 cards in 2 columns. I took a measuring stick to see where the perforations fell and put guide lines in those places in Photoshop. Then put a different image in each place. Mine were wilderness scenery pictures in color and I used different colors for the text on each. A dark-ish image had text in yellow; light colored images had text in black or blue. The only printing snag was that my printer does not like both right & left margins to be 1/2 inch exact - so I had to cheat somewhat.
