How Do They Teach Driving Manual Cars In The US?
Q: how do they teach driving manual cars in the US?
I guess that since automatics are the norm over there they probably
don't.
Here in the UK, where a manual transmission is the norm and most
people learn on those. You would fail your driving test here if you
slowed down with your foot on the clutch for longer than required to
change gear, since the vehicle is not considered to be under control
when its allowed to coast like that. You should only use both clutch and
brake to change down or when you come to a stop - then its handbrake on,
neutral and clutch up.
A:They definitely don't. They don't even have a manual car for
driver's ed classes. No one would want to buy that trashed
clutch when they are turned back, I suppose. It is even unclear
if they teach driving in the US, but most people pick it up.
