The domain controller is the brain behind the maintenance and availability of the different accessories of a computer network to every user or a group of the same. The user has just to log into the domain area to avail the services of the different resources such as printers, applications, etc. Such resources can be with any of the servers of the domain controller. The domain controller has two main types of servers- the primary and the backup. The primary one is the most important one and is responsible to manage the entire data of the total domain. A few others assist the primary one in its working. Every now and then, the master sends the workings of the data to the backup servers for maintaining the same. In case of any problem with the primary server, the backup can easily take up its position to maintain continuity in the work. When such domain controller is within the networking system of the Windows, the different users can make use of all the available resources and at the same time can enter into the other domain as and when the need arises. Therefore, here the servers are all members of the entire domain. In the most recent versions of the Windows, the servers are giving way to the system of a directory- Active Directory. The domain controller takes the help of the active directory in times of need. In cases where the computer tries to log on to the server from a different site, the active directory provides help by identifying the names similar to that in question. As the controller has all the addresses of the members, it can easily decipher the client's location and take the necessary action accordingly. The domain controller is the master of the area of operation. It is a virtual storehouse of information of the different client members under its networking. It is hence responsible for the proper coordination between the servers and the accessories. If any problem arises, it takes help from the directory for the addresses and the members for overhauling of the problem.
