Leather Furniture

Leather furniture comes in a variety of colors and textures. The one sought after most is the Italian leather sofa. Once looked at as the really expensive sofa only your lawyer or your therapist could afford. This is not true present day; Ranging in price and available in all furniture stores. The preparation of leather for items such as these can be a very long process. In the past leather was all tanned and prepared by hand, which was why the price was so costly. Now it is done by machines in a manufacturing plant. (article81snippet) When purchasing leather furniture you want to be sure that you are getting the most for your money. Ask the salesperson how much actual leather is on the furniture you wish to purchase. In some cases the cushions may be leather and the inside may be a synthetic material. Leather made from lamb will be in a different price range then say leather made from a cow. Lambs leather is quite soft and pliable whereas leather from a cow is more durable. When buying leather furniture be sure to ask if there is a treatment for the items to prevent staining. This may happen when dye from clothes rubs on the leather or from spillage. For the most part spills can easily be wiped off, unless they are drinks or spills from fruit or wine. Be sure to clean up the spot right away. Last but not least a key to remember good quality leather goods is that even though they are a dyed material no 2 will be the same because they are made from the skins of animals. The scent of new leather could also pose a problem for the person with allergies or a sensitive nose. Leather items have a very pungent aroma especially when exposed to the elements. This may also be addressed at the time of the purchase there may be a treatment for this also.
