Heartburn Home Treatment
Q: I just returned home from a treatment of cytoxan. Does anything work for
the heartburn? I've tried Pepto and famotidine and I've got it bad. Also
what other side effects can I expect? I did the treatment some days ago.
No one said it would be this bad! So instead, can anyone here in the group help me please?!
A:The most beneficial drug I've used was Cytoxan. I have cp/ms and getting an intravenous dose of that chemotherapy drug for 2+ years every 6 weeks or so worked wonders for me. I never had heartburn, but Cytoxan sucks the calcium out of the body so I took a couple of 'Tums' a day. A prescription strength of 'Zantac' may help with your heartburn. I haven't had any bad side effects from cytoxan, but have had the heartburn feeling several times. In fact, what it was all the way down my exophygus and was very burny. I found out it was similar to thrush. This COULD be what you have and if it is, it can be fixed quickly with a liquid you swish in your mouth or with a couple of doses of diflucan. Are you drinking a lot of water? Have you called the doctor? I have been on an ongoing cytoxan protocol for several years and it has worked very well for me.
