Putting Together Gift Baskets

Gift baskets can be a fun way to show you care. They include a variety of gifts, usually anchored by a single theme. Gift baskets can be beautifully decorated with ribbons, bows, paper and glitter. They present wonderful opportunities to show off your creative and imaginative side, and can be given for any occasion, whether a holiday, birthday, shower or just because. Giving gift baskets can be a lot of fun. Many stores offer them during Christmas. Everything from cookies and cocoa to lotions and spa treatments are offered in gift baskets. These can be pretty expensive, however. In order to avoid paying a lot for a gift basket, try putting one together yourself. Not only will you save money, but you will add a distinctly personal touch to your gift. Gift baskets of a more personal nature are especially nice for those who are giving them for a more specific event, such as a baby or bridal shower. Most craft stores offer baskets of various sizes, shapes, colors and prices. Generally, natural looking baskets make the most attractive gift baskets. There is no need to purchase a big basket when putting together gift baskets. A small basket, with a few thoughtful and meaningful items can mean more than any generic, mass-produced basket bought at the store. All it takes is a little time and consideration, and you can put together an attractive basket. First, determine the size of the gift basket. Think about what sorts of things you would put in the basket. If you do not think you will be able to fill a large basket, it is better to get a smaller basket. You will need to choose what you want to put in the basket as a sort of filler on the bottom. Raffia and tissue paper both make excellent decorations for the bottom of the basket. Green, red, silver and gold can be used for Christmas; pink, purple, white are great for Valentines Day. Gift baskets for baby showers can utilize the range of pastel shades. If the basket is for a bridal shower, it should be decorated with the wedding colors, if known. Next, put the various items inside the gift basket. Arrange them so they look attractive and appear to fill the basket (even if they really do not). The idea of gift baskets is not efficiency, but a beautiful way to present a few well chosen and carefully considered gifts. The final touch is to decorate the outside of the basket. Tie a ribbon around the handle for the most basic of looks. This is a simple statement, and can be done by anyone, even those who are not particularly good at crafts. Other ideas for the outside of the basket include bows glued to the outside and related objects (pacifiers for a baby shower or paper wedding bells for a bridal shower) suspended from the handle. Gift baskets can be a fun and thoughtful ways to show you care. Even the least creative of baskets is an attractive way to present a gift. Making gift baskets can be rewarding, as well as money saving, while adding a personal touch.
