Milwaukee School Of Engineering Exhibit

Q: Milwaukee School of Engineering Exhibit: See http://www.msoe.edu/library/dr_who/.

A: I gotta say: I went to see this "exhibit." In fact, I made a special trip, driving up from Chicago. The thought was marvelous, but I think low expectations could make the difference between enjoying the display and wanting, or expecting, something more. Essentially, the link above shows everything. There's nothing more to see, and it's a rather unimpressive display. In fact, I walked back and forth through the library trying to find it, only to realize that I'd been walking by it over and over. It was so unassuming that I almost missed it right in front of me. The thought that flashed through my head was "that's it?" followed by a mild flush of embarassment. It was kind of sad, really. There were a number of people occupying the library at the time, all immersed in their studies, completely oblivious to the exhibit. It mainly consisted of some video boxes, books, photographs and some "costume" pieces (almost completely unrecognizable as such) in a short display case, as innocuous and unassuming as corporate art in an office building. It's a fine idea, I suppose, but I think there's a real danger of overhype. There's just no much to this exhibit, and what there is is almost surely more impressive on the web page than it is in person, at least to me. And my expectations were low to begin with, really...
