Locals And Engineering Guide Byte

Q: I've just downloaded the ss1.2a. It has "FF" for the engineering guide byte (I'm interested in locals). However, the comments indicate that this should be changed if a better setting is available. Is there a better setting available? Can someone explain why one setting would be better than the other? Before looking at this file I was under the impression that setting the engineering byte guide was a matter of either having "on" or "off". Apparently this is not the case. Also, can I simply use ss1.2a on my never before programmed "H" card or should certain updates exist on the card?

A: -A better one is one that looks more like a regular sub card at that memory address. The USW must be 26, 28 or 29 and the card cleaned in BasicH 2.2 before running the script. Get my FAQ here: http://freespace.virginnet.co.uk/racecraft.motorsports/faqs.html Although the 3M I walk through is the X1b, the steps are the same. -Try 49 for the engineering guide byte. -yes you can use ss1.2a on your H card just make sure you do a one step clean in BasicH2.2 or viyada v1.6 twice so that there are no byte differences. then run winexp. v4.2 and load ss1.2a and bingo
