Advise On Engineering Consulting
Q: I'm a startup engineering consulting firm. I would love to get some advice from all of you on the best way for me to generate new leads and new business. What marketing strategies have worked for you? What did you do to get your foot in the door? Would love to hear how all of you on how you started your consulting practice and what stumbling blocks you have encountered along the way. To give you some background on what type of consulting I'm offering. I'll be offering machine design and automation design services. I'll also be offering CAD drafting, solid modeling, and rendering services. I'll also be offering macro programming services for AUTOCAD, Excel, and Word. So far, I'm a one man operation. I hope to grow beyond that one day.
A: -To be an "Engineering Consulting Firm" takes a PE out here in California so unless you are a PE be Reeeeeal Careful about how you present yourself to the public. Will you be using Autocad for "solid modeling"? I used mechanical desktop for a while, but dropped it because it did not work very well. -Engineering laws in all states regulate all fields of engineering. If you offer engineering services to the public, you're covered by the law. Get the PE.
