Surrender Drivers License

Q: Mrs. Misc's dad totaled his 2nd car this year (I'm suggesting he surrender his license before we read about him backing over kids on the warf...) and is laid up in the hospital with 2 broken ribs, a collapsed lung and a myriad of other bangs & bruises. Thank goodness he was in the new car with all the airbags. Anyway, it'd drive him nuts to think that a bunch of folks were smoking cigars to "aid his recovery", but a kind thought and a good word to the higher power of your choice probably wouldn't bother the good Reverend... Thanks!

A: Mrs. Hardcrab's Dad did the same thing 4 years ago. Had my kids in the car and ran right through a red light (we told him he wasn't allowed to drive anywhere with the kids in the car, but he did anyway). Luckily nobody was hurt, but we told him it was time to give up the license. He agreed. We got him to move closer to us and it CAN be a pain having to run him around sometimes, but it's better than planning a funeral..... Sorry to hear about the accident and hope all is going to be OK. I watch my father very carefully (he is also a Reverend - before that he was an all weather night attack pilot (USN). That may be part of the problem. I heisitate to let my kids in the car with him for long trips.
