Rough Week..

Q: We're still alive and kicking here! Last week was bad because DS got some intestinal virus and was the sickest he's ever been. We ended up with a 9 hour visit to the children's hospital with IVs and x-rays and lots of waiting. Everything turned out OK (no blockages) but we were frightened when he stopped throwing up and his stomach swelled up like a starving child from one of those poor countries. There were lots of traumas at the hospital when we were there and a wee one even lost his life in the ER. Too terrible for words. DS perked up a bit around 1:00 am and they discharged us. DH went to get the car and drove up front to pick us up. I put on DS's coat and held his hand to walk out to the car. When we got to the car, hubby said "You're making him walk?"...."Yes! Our son is able to walk out of this hospital and there is a family in there who can't walk outside with their child because they are planning a funeral instead. I'm so happy that he CAN walk." We're all doing much better and he's even being bad! Just a quick update.

A: I'm glad to hear your DS is doing much better. I cannot imagine how it must have felt to be there and know that your child lived while another died. The two events are unrelated except for proximity of time and place, but it becomes so much more personal when you are there and know. Glad to hear that he is doing much better. Very hard about the other child who died, though. You take care or yourself and that lovely boy, Joyce.
