Drunken Missive

Q: ground Tuesday, despite the freezing temperatures (it pays to have a pile driver for a family member). So anyway, I'm drunk enough to post about this. My grand mother died yesterday morning. Early. Like maybe the day before. All hail managed care. Most arrangements were made yesterday. The figure came in at over ten thousand dollars. Outrageous. So my brother. He's drunk. Anyway, he sees this for the boondoggle it is... Takes the funeral director out back, chokes the guy, and the bill comes down 3 grand. Go figure. You shouldn't have to choke funeral directors to be able to bury your relatives. So my grandmother's dead. My uncle was diagnosed with terminal cancer just a short two days ago. He starts chemo on Monday to try to prolong his life. Then today, my aunt calls to say cousin Hannes is in the hospital ina diabetic coma. He doesn't even know yet that our grandmother is dead. I'm guessing this is a bad start to the year, huh?

A: That's a heckuva a lot of life to dump on you in one batch. I know your grandmother going wasn't exactly unexpected, but that doesn't make it any better. You hang in there. But try to hold off on choking too many people, okay?
