911 Article What Gets Into Breaking One's Imperial Conditioning
Q: Many technical analyses cast doubt on the official explanation of the collapse of three World Trade Center buildings, including those presented by an impressive new group: Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth. More difficult than discovering the truth, however, is convincing most of the public to accept the bitter truth. Americans easily block out painful truths. Powerful societal forces keep much of the population distracted and uninterested in complex issues. Entertainment-oriented mainstream media contribute to mass ignorance. And the political establishment often buries the truth, uses propaganda and manipulates citizens. Intelligent, strong-willed people can fight all these. But on a deeper level, many truths are blocked psychologically, because they produce too...

After 300 Iraq Missions, Fort Richardson Soldier Killed By Moose
Q: After 300 Iraq missions, Fort Richardson soldier killed by moose Associated Press Article Last Updated: 12/07/2007 02:31:26 PM AKST Army Specialist Stephen Cavanaugh survived more than 300 missions in Iraq during a year-long tour. But it was a collision with a moose that killed the Fort Richardson soldier months after his return to Alaska. The 24-year-old was in a coma when his family took him off life support Thursday. Relatives say Cavanaugh had brain trauma from the many explosions around him in Iraq and was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder when he returned in March. Cavanaugh, who deployed to Iraq with the 98th Maintenance Company, was still trying to heal when...
Aging Is An Odd Thing
Q: Hi, This is only for those over 21 years of age. Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions. How old are you?.... "I'm four and half" You're never 36 and a half .... you're four and a half going on five! That's the key. You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number. How old are you? "I'm gonna be 16." You could be 12, but you're gonna be 16. ...
Another Loss.....
Q: Some of you might remember me from December (2 months ago) when I posted a few messages about the very sad loss of my sister's two baby girls at about 7 months along in her first pregnancy. Anya was stillborn on Dec. 9th, and Sophia lived from Dec. 9 to Dec. 15th, when she also passed away. I got to see Sophia alive many times in the NICU. She weighed just 1 pound and 14 ounces. I miss her so, so much .... it literally hurts in my heart as I type this. And I was only her auntie...but I...
Another Paper Clip Question
Q: When Klemper called The Well-Manicured Man after Mulder and Scully's visit, he lied and told him, "I told him you were the most venal man I'd ever met." My question: "venal" meaning "capable of being obtained for a price" (one definition; another being "corrupted"), do you suppose we could infer anything other than the obvious from that, or was Klemper basically just calling him corrupt? After I watched it a couple times, it struck me that we could interpret that to mean this Well-Manicured Man takes bribes and possibly plays both sides, but that does seem far-fetched, in retrospect. I guess I'm just looking for other's thoughts on...
Are We Ready For The Postmortem Yet?
Q: Don't bogart those Vicodins, sweet cheeks. She already knows 101 ways to kill a man, each more pleasant than the one before. Is it my birthday already?A: I haven't seen the promo yet either, but I have a sinking feeling that the injustice to Kay in this project is only beginning. I don't suppose you have any movie spoilers regarding her role in the investigation? Maybe she'll keep busy planning a funeral? Did anybody who was in Baltimore during the filming see her there? The only thing we've been told here so far (IIRC) is that she made it into the cast...
Ash Flood: Funeral
Q: drain my brain... I'm feeling remarkedly unpleasant at the mo, and there are no new posts to remove me from myself... so... Have you thought about your own funeral? Is there any particular way you visualise it, or any particular things you would like to happen? love, the uber-emotional tired thing.A: I have been thinking about my funeral a lot over the last few days... and right now it seems a lot like a good thing... nothing different about it.. I don't care how it goes, as long as I am not here living I am happy. Clifford M. Roche "Life and death is a choice; they are...
A Strange Experince At Canadian Hill
Q: Last Sunday was a hot day; a day perfect for mountain climbing. "Ben, want to go mountain climbing today?" my friend Mr Teo called me up at 11.30am. "okay," I replied. "Right then, I'll pick you up at 3.30pm. Make sure you eat more curry rice to boost your energy." Mr Teo joked. Since we started early, we decided to start at Hill No1. Hill No1 was at the far end and one of the tougher hills and normally trekkers avoided it. After we trekked for about fifteen minutes, Mr Teo who was better fit than me was leading ahead. "Hey Teo, you go...
Back--momentarily
Q: Used to be posting here with modest regularity -- then for about a month had some very intense work, and no time. Then in mid-May, flew out for my son's 18th birthday (he lives with his mother, my ex, at the far side of the country. Figured on a 3-4 day trip. It turned into two weeks. Day after his birthday she was admitted to the hospital, probable pneumonia. Day after that I was explaining to her that they'd found a 10 cm tumor in her right lung and she was not going to make it. (I wound up doing it because her cousin chickened out, so...
Bacon Sarnie Kills Tot
Q: Four-year-old Ben Stewart died after choking on a bacon sandwich, did you see in the papers? The tragic boy was having a snack with his parents on a last-minute shopping trip before a Spanish holiday. A chunk of the sandwich lodged in his throat and he collapsed unconscious. Frantic parents Joanne and dad Graham slapped him on the back to try to clear his airway. But it didn't work and he was rushed to hospital. After a nine-day battle for life, fun-loving Ben died in his dad's arms in an intensive care unit. Cabbie Graham, 36, of Rotherham, South Yorks, said: "We're devastated. We should be on a happy...
Bm Going After New Wife's Income
Q: Do any of you have any experience with bio moms trying to get you (women) to pay child support? My husband's ex-girlfriend may be up to just that. She knows he is laid off and they are in the middle of court. When she found that out in mediation, she immediately retained an attorney. We do not have an type of prenup and I don't want her coming after my money. She hates me. She's also married herself, but we still don't trust her. Any info?A: That is an interesting question. My husband's life insurance all goes to me, according to his...
Bob Dole...purple Hearts A Fraud--repugs Should Be Ashamed!
Q: Good for nothing rightard SOB lobs a grenade which bounces off a tree and grazes his dick on the way back. Then the stupid repug whines that he deserves an award or something for bravery along with a Viagra contract. What a damn FRAUD. You righties should be ashamed of yourselves.A: "The only truly new ideas [the right] has come up with in the last twenty years are:(1) supply side economics, which is a way of redistributing the wealth upward toward those who already have more than they know what to do with, and; (2) creationism, which is a parallel idea for redistributing ignorance out...
Book Review: Life List By Olivia Gentile. About Birder Phoebe Snetsinger Who Was The First Person To Pass 8000 Birds Seen In The World.
Q: I have just read the book - as I was sent a free copy to review. After seeing the promotional video, I probably would have bought the book anyway. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MnQ_HyyTp4 Mind-blowing video, but how was the book? It surpassed my expectations . It is truly a great book. I really hope it gets the recognition it deserves, It should transcend to be read also by non-birders. It treats issues such as life, death, family, marriage, rasing children, feminism, obsession, and self-fulfilment. I wrote a review on my blog if anyone wants to read further. http://www.kolibriexpeditions.com/birdingperu/blog/index.php/book-rev... Here ?s the short url if the above does not workA: There was a review...
Bruce And The Death Penalty!
Q: Sure Bruce has a right to support whatever issue he desires. He has long been an advocate for the downtrodden. This now includes those on death row. He's entitled to his opinion. We all have one. Just because we are fans and appreciate a person's music, doesn't mean we are required to take on their moral and political views. Nor is he required to mirror the view of the majority of Americans on the death penalty issue. He is a passionate advocate for the cause. I have heard and read of passionate advocates on the other side of the issue who are just as convincing....
Burial Today/funeral Director Comments
Q: Well this morning we buried little Alexandra, my fourth loss in two years. Father gave a lovely graveside service, one that spoke movingly of the Resurrection, and which quoted the passage in the Bible where Jesus said to let the little children come unto Him. For the first time since I lost Alexandra, I cried. I had not been able to until today. But I am upset by something the funeral director said to me, and I was wondering if anyone could give me insight as to what you think he meant (maybe I am misunderstanding him), and also, I need help in knowing how to handle...
Canada Post Mailbox
Q: "The Hit" continued to cultivate his knowledge of the auto glass industry in the popular forum Glasslinks. He followed the forum on a daily basis to develop contacts in the auto glass industry. It was apparent that the IGA could be the ticket to accessing about 1400 independent auto glass shops across the United States. The independents saw insurance company steering and 40 % discounts on NAGS pricing to be serious problems. In Burnaby "The Hit" worked his way into Speedy Auto Glass by talking with Brian in their warehouse. Brian referred him to Doug who was in charge of their IT department. Doug...
Can A Persons Occupation Turn You Right Off?
Q: absolutely bloody true, Drifter... what would that be, fifi? I'd guess at Scorpio... (we're a much maligned lot :) )A: ." If you think that's funny, well I say strange sense of humour! " Yes it is isn't it..but never the less evidence of the existence of one.... That was my response to your saying you were wanting to enter the funeral industry when many of your other posts talk about starting a bed and breakfast.I often do the throw away lines in real life which are normally found quite humourous by people who don't take themselves too seriously. Having no fear is one of the main identifying...
Cd Vs. Vinyl??
Q: I'm looking into buying some dj equipment for the first time here. I've been shopping around a lot, and haven't decided to go vinyl or cd. I don't really have a preference on the format. I think 12"s would be a little more fun to play with over cds. It would primarily be for techno/industrial type music. Any suggestions on the subject and or equipment to start off with would be helpful....A: Broadcasting is still the number one pre-release promo vehicle - and most major radio stations are using some type of digital format. ...
Cincinnati Lifts 25-year-old Seating Ban
Q: I am not so sure this is a good idea...I remember The Who incident (Cinci wasn't the only place incidents happened, we had injuries here in Atlanta too.) Take a bunch of young kids, throw alcohol into the mix, and you have a recipe for disaster. Cincinnati Lifts 25-Year-Old Seating Ban Group: alt.gossip.celebrities Date: Wed, Aug 4, 2004, 9:43pm From: edonlineSPAMO...@comcast.net (edonline) http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/entertainment/9321397.htm Posted on Wed, Aug. 04, 2004 Cincinnati Lifts 25-Year-Old Seating Ban Associated Press CINCINNATI - The city council on Wednesday lifted a nearly 25-year ban on concert general admission seating that was imposed after 11 fans were crushed to death at a performance by the rock group...
Colorado Funeral Rant
Q: I can't hold this in any longer, I just can't...extremely mean-spirited and insensitive rant ahead: So, earlier today (Monday) the teacher's funeral was held. Of course, this teacher is a hero, because he allegedly tried to get students out of the building while being wounded. In fact, he was a hero before he got shot, in the eyes of a principal, just for the mere fact of being a HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER . Alright, being a high school teacher is below dung beetle rustler on my list of career choices, and there are schools where teaching is the equivalent of a war...
Cost Of Uhf Tx?
Q: How much does it cost the BBC to broadcast a 60 minute programme from Crystal Palace, and how many people does it reach? I've got some very rough figures based on a 1 MW TX with a 60 mile radius coverage (I think that reaches 15 million people, but that's very very rough), but if anyone's got better figures (such as the annual running cost of the transmitter), that'd be much appreciated. Trying to cost out UHF vs iPlayer as a transmission medium. iPlayer is currently running at around 7 petabytes a month...A: Rubbish. As customers, we pay ISPs to provide bandwidth. It doesn't matter whether we...

Dead Lizard
Q: My son's pet lizard died about an hour ago. I think it choked on something. I feel really bad, I had taken quite a liking to the little guy he was rather cute and seemed to enjoy our company. He was a green water dragon, named Gomez. I feel terribly bad my son has to go to bed with this on his mind, I'm sure he is already planning a funeral. Should I get him another one?? I will not be able to sleep tonight feeling so bad about the little thing and I could not save him.A: Let your son decide what critter he'd...
Cremation Caskets
Q: I've wondered why it's taken so long. Does anyone know if one has to buy a casket for cremation? It would seem to me, if one does, the cheaper the model the better for burning? I've told my family for years 'not to let anybody screw 'em out of big bucks for any funeral crap for me.' I want to be cremated and as far as I'm concerned they can keep me in whatever I'm 'returned in.' Not to buy an expensive urn or anything. Keep the money and enjoy it after I'm...
Death Of Parents (was: Re: Death And Newlyweds
Q: It's amazing how the death of one or both parents affects your view of who you are and when you are finally "grown up". I have friends in their 60's and even 70's whose parents are still living and who tell me "I can't IMAGINE what I'll do when they die" or "I can't imagine how you coped with losing 3 parents between the two of you when you were in your 20's!" I guess that one dynamic is that you still think of yourself as "one of the kids" as long as your parents are alilve, no matter HOW old ...
Democrats Plan Funeral - Funraiser For Al-zarqaw
Q: Yup........The Desperate Democrats don't want to miss a chance to make money off Al-Zarqawi's Death.......... "Thursday, June 8, 2006 - New York The Democrats, notorious for turning funerals into fundraisers, aren't about to let this chance go by, according to an unnamed source in Washington, DC. The high-level source, who chose to remain anonymous, said today in Washington that the DNC is planning a funeral - fundraiser for the candidacy of Michael Berg, the father of Nicholas Berg who was beheaded in Iraq by Al-Zarqawi himself. The source further stated, that the fundraiser will be televised by CBS in New York and was being hosted by Senator...
Did Any Of You Ever Consider?
Q: Y'know, it's posts like this which make me think that maybe it would be soooo much better if ASED were limited (and moderated) to be a newsgroup ONLY for those for actual EDs, rather than being open to family, friends, boyfriends, husbands, concerned others, trolls, the whole bloody world......... It is difficult for those who actually do not have an ED to fully understand what someone with an ED is going through, and it is also frustrating as heck for us who ARE going through it to have to deal with posts such as this from well-meaning and concerned family members or friends. We...
Do I Have To Go To Funerals?
Q: do I have to go to funerals? A few years ago, My father in law died of old age. I didn't go to his funeral. My mother was upset and the rest of the family was to. I had one excuse to to go. I was on a vacation. My wife and I made reservation to stay at a cabin in the mountains. On the day we were packing and getting ready to go. The bad news arrived hours before we were supposed to walk out the door. I went to see my mother and told her i want be coming to the funeral....

Drunken Missive
Q: ground Tuesday, despite the freezing temperatures (it pays to have a pile driver for a family member). So anyway, I'm drunk enough to post about this. My grand mother died yesterday morning. Early. Like maybe the day before. All hail managed care. Most arrangements were made yesterday. The figure came in at over ten thousand dollars. Outrageous. So my brother. He's drunk. Anyway, he sees this for the boondoggle it is... Takes the funeral director out back, chokes the guy, and the bill comes down 3 grand. Go figure. You shouldn't have to choke funeral...
Favourite Clothing
Q: Over at alt.fashion they have a thread going about the one item of clothing that people find ties their wardrobe together. Most of the people have selected either a pair of jeans/trousers or a solid colour (usually black) long sleeve t-shirt. A few years ago I had a thin black knitted top that I adored. I've never been able to find one with which to replace it. I have a black long sleeve t-shirt and a warm (thickish) black sweater. Both are practical but not the loved item the thin sweater was. As I examine my wardrobe in a clutter context it is...
Feeling Frightened
Q: I'm feeling somewhat concerned and a bit scared, as I have signs of what may be testicular cancer. I realize that this newsgroup is not designed to replace medical advice, and I'm actually getting this looked at this coming week, so I'm not asking for a diagnosis from anyone. I guess I just would like opinions, if any of you wouldn't mind offering them. To provide some background, I am 32 years old and for over a year I've noticed a tiny, pea-sized lump right below the left testicle. I actually did go to my, at the...
Queen's Decisions After Diana's Death
Q: Forcing the Queen, I don't think so. It was more or less of a wise thing to do. She hasn't been Queen for that long and not learned that the best choice is a wise choice. Who do you think you are saying what her state of mind was RC? Your stance indicates to me that the Queen had some hatred in her feelings. I wasn't aware that she was that type of person. A: Indeed. If it was so important to the public to see the Queen grieving, why could they not have...
F! Thread - Funeral
Q: Right this is an ideal opportunity for thread drift. Who thinks there are big cats on the loose?Because its not necessary. Whats more important? A career or a child? If its the career then don't have kids. Bringing up a baby is a full time job especially the early years so at least one of the parents should be there.A: I think Friday's response precludes mine. To echo his comment, not being able to give birth does not exclude me from having an opinion. (And you know how opinionated I amAs you may or may not be aware but my two sons are...
Funeral Ads
Q: I personally feel very uncomfortable when one of those funeral ads appear on TV. I find it strange that they need to advertise this on TV. I certainly won't be COFFIN up..... Perhaps they should BURY them very late at night.....?A: I mentioned this on aus.invest - "funeral insurance" is far more expensive than life insurance. I also phoned Tower Life, spoke to an executive and told him that clergy selling funderal plans is in very bad taste. yeah, i am not to keen on them either, nobody likes to be reminded of their mortality. in wollongong we also get adds for a pet cematarry i...
Funeral Cost! Again
Q: Ah but Dalin think of the problems you might be creating. I don't know how many people "THEM" might be or how well they communicate. But ponder the problems is there is a disagreement. One wants to spend the $10,000 on a super duper Irish wake and another spend it on a lead lined casket. If you make the decision - now - then they can all shrug and say "it was Dalin's wish and just go ahead a celebrate your life. Connie and I have it all set up whether the kids like it or not - but they won't...
Funeral Grants
Q: can anyone tell me what percentage of the costs the DSS would pay towards a funeral please Person who died had no insurance policy/no savings/no estate and was in reciept of OAP pension and the person responsible for the funeral is also on benefits. just so we can get some idea before going to the DSS office tomorrow many thanksA: They should cover the full cost of the funeral up to a certain amount, make sure you find out from the DSS exactly what that amount is. Next, make sure you get a list of the full costs from which ever undertakers you get to do the funeral...
Funeral Home Limo
Q: Is it just me or would some of you feel uncomfortable "going away" in a limo borrowed from the local funeral home? We saw this at a wedding a couple of weekends ago.A: There are about 3 funeral homes that rent out their limos. A limo, is, a limo. Although you plan well in advance for a wedding, the funeral home clients who may also need that limo usually Don't plan that far in advance.... I'd be concerned about scheduling/ last minute UN-availability. You are quite right.. a limo is a limo. And the inside of funeral...
Funeral Music Trends
Q: There was enough sadness to go around with the story of an 11-year-old and a 13-year-old slaughtering the innocents down in what's-his-name's home state, but I'm curious whether I was the only musician further saddened by one aspect of the funeral services. It was reported that the funerals were enhanced by playing recordings of various, very appropriate songs. Recordings?? Disc Jockeys specializing in wedding and funeral services????? Have we really come to the point where "music" is not something to do, but to consume, even at the most solemn moments? Where a very appropriate song for these occasions can't be sung by a live...
Funeral Planning
Q: I'm writing a book on intelligent funeral planning and would like to hear from others who have planned an unconventional, inexpensive funeral and/or burial/cremation. Can you help?A: I have planned, conducted, or attended about six unconventional funeral services. Most of these were for individuals who were not very religious in the conventional sense. I will list the thing which were common to all. Creamation was handled as an entirely seperate matter by a funeral home. Then a memorial service was held at a time convenient for those invited to attend. In each case there was no minister or other religious representative in charge. A member of the family...
Funeral Problems
Q: Do any pipers feel like I do about funerals? I think that choir directors and even the rest of the group think of pipers as the "not needed" part of the funeral. On a couple of jobs I have had these people tell me when to play and what to play, even when the family of the deceased have other ideas. Today I played at a funeral of a friend. His wife asked me to play. When I got to the church the choir director said that I should play after the recessional song, when everyone has left the church....
Funeral Resources
Q: I went through our local library's online catalog and found a couple of videos on funerals. I just watched both of them and felt they would be good resources because you can watch a video quicker than read a book. The videos are listed in the order in which I would recommend they be viewed: 1. Understanding the Tricks of the Funeral Trade - Self Defense for Consumers Presented by Lisa Carlson (53 minutes) 2. Final Decisions - A Practical Guide to Purchasing Funeral Products and Services Presenter? Library...
Jewish Funerals
Q: Not at all. Usually, though, if you are planning a funeral you know if that person led a life that satisfied them or not. A: There is a phrase in the Jewish service that goes something like "May their memory live on as a blessing to all our days." My primary reason for planning my death and disposal rituals and insisting upon people conforming to them is that I do not wish to be the cause of great distress and pain to those I leave behind. I have great hope that in my up beat attitude about passing...
Funerals, And Christian Hypocracy
Q: We buried my grandmother yesterday. I loved this woman, she never mentioned religion or god or Jesus, And as far as I know she never owned a bible or went to church. But when I got to the funeral, I walked up to the casket and she had a white new testament in her hands with a crucifix on a gold chain! The organist played hymns, and the whole thing was officated by the pastor of a church she never attended. "I think she might have been baptised in it, but noone was sure" The man didn't really even deliver a...
Funeral Service Held For Iranian Celebrated Poet
Q: Tehran, July 27, IRNA -- Thousands of writers, artists, relatives and people from all walks of life here on Thursday attended the funeral service of the Iranian celebrated poet, Ahmad Shamlou. Shamlou, born in 1925 in Tehran, passed away here on Monday morning at the age of 75. ...
Gerber "grow-up" Insurance Plan
Q: Does anyone have any experience with the Gerber "Grow-Up" Insurance Plan? This seems to be a good investment, but I've been trapped by marketing hype before.A: Why do children need life insurance? In general, anyone with no dependents has no need for life insurance. If you want to put some money aside for a funeral, invest in a mutual fund. Then, in 18 years when you haven't used it you'll have some money for college instead of the insurance company having it. In the horrible, and hopefully unlikely event a child dies, this policy is only intended for final expenses. It...
Gerber Grow Up Plan
Q: I have been paying for the gerber grow up plan since my children were babies now 8 and 6 at $25.00 for 2 months with 5,000 coverage I figure under 1,200 paid into it so far, Is the plan really worth it? we have other coverage for my husband and I also.A: My parents did this for us until we reached 18. My brother developed juvenile diabetes, and this is his ONLY source of life insurance now, because it was convertible. Things like that are very, very rare, though . . . I'd say if you can afford to bury a child, and...
Getting Discouraged/anxious (long Vent)
Q: Well, it's Monday and Gamma shows no signs of appearing any time soon. I *knew* intellectually that just because Aurora came at 39w2d, I had no reason to expect this baby to come at roughly the same time, but under the circumstances, I was certainly hoping! It doesn't help much that everyone who's seen me in the past week has been convinced that I'd go before tomorrow based on dilation/effacement, BH activity, and the fact that I've lost quite a lot of my mucus plug. Even though I know none of these things is meaningful, I must admit I was feeling reasonably confident of laboring before hitting...
Gigs
Q: Tonight I experienced the "Gig from Hell" and am STILL so upset about it that I will reserve my rant for the morning when I've had a chance to sleep on it a bit! As I told Husband #1, "This gig was real fodder for the NG" .... and I'm pondering "What is piping for anyway?" This felt like a Dog and Pony show tonight and I DON'T like the way that I'm feeling! Has anyone else had experiences like this??? More in the morning when I can write civilly about it!!!!!A: Well, I'm not sure exactly where you might go with this, but one...
God And Evolution
Q: An interesting article. The author writes :- 'Recently my eldest brother died. Amazingly my other brother died on the way to his funeral. I would imagine that there is a very small chance of such a tragic event - the occurrence of brothers dying on the way to their brother's funeral must be pretty small. Do I thereby believe that in any sense this occurrence was outside God's sovereign plan? Of course not.' This is the sort of attitude I find baffling. Still, if people want to believe that God plans people's deaths, who am I to shake them in their beliefs?A: The problem of evil, which includes suffering...
Grief And Timing
Q: While I never had problems with the insurance people and the lawyers after Danny died, I did have an unfortunate experience with a telemarketer. Four days after Danny died in an automobile accident, I had a call from a woman who wanted to sell me accidental death and dismemberment insurance. I must confess that I totally lost it at this woman, even though she was just doing her job and had no idea what was going on. After that, if I was alone at the house, I let the machine pick up so that I could be sure I wanted to talk to...
Grief Chatrooms
Q: I am looking for Internet chatrooms that serve as meeting places and educational forums for people who are dealing with grief associated with the death of aged loved ones. I am specifically looking for chatrooms that have aregularly scheduled session with ahost/moderator. These rooms would help visitors deal with end-of-life issues, grief, bereavement and funeral planning as well. Also, does anyon regularly participate in mailing list list-servs like thos organized on onelist.com?A: I have found a wonderful community of people with both message boards and moderated chat forums for those grieving. http://www.groww.com...
Grocery Stores?
Q: How many trips to you make to the grocery store a week? Do you buy by the day, week, month? I go everyday, but the store is just about two blocks away. What about everyone else??A: I didn't drive until I was 21. In NJ, you can go just about anywhere by using public transportation and/or walking, and that's how I got around during HS and college. It was fairly easy for my parents to con me out of bugging them for driving lessons. DH told me that he wasn't going to be like his grandfather (having to drive...
How Do You Really Know?
Q: I was diagnosed with OCD about a month ago and I keep thinking "how do you know". I mean I do have many of the symptoms but I don't wash my hands compulsively or do other compulsions. All I do is let's say something happens during the day that scares me (there are a few) then I will pretty much go crazy for the day, week, or if its severe enough year. Right now I am feeling calm but I think I know why. You see ever since i've turned 24 I gained 10 pounds that I can't seem to lose. Well really I actually think...
How Many Of Us Actually Plan Weekly Menus?
Q: Nancy Young wrote: Also, some nights nothing will do but an excellent roast beef on rye from the local deli, can't predict that craving. nancy ah, but what do you put on said item, mayonnaise or mustard? this could influence whether or not you advance to the next round.A: I live a 40 minute drive from the nearest large grocery store. And so I plan meals and shop every two or three weeks. There is a convience store about 15 minutes away, so that I can pick up milk in between visits to the grocer. I have found that keeping track of...

"The gravest abuse of power - and the gravest threats to personal liberty and security - are those in which the very individuals to whom we look for the preservation of law and order turn out to be the predators."A: You have a life? And who is Dennis? You keep referring to him. It seems that not even the other poters now who he is, and what makes you think I'm this guy? I was actually beginning to beleive the fact that you stated I was Patty Reed, Jafo, Lawdawg, Fuqit and others. I must be magical and clever to be all these people...
Hurtful Attitudes
Q: I don't want to turn this into a discussion about people's rights (or not) to have an abortion. But I do want emotional support for coping with the hurtful attitudes often expressed in these discussions and decisions. Although I know that many people here cannot, I can accept somebody who recognizes the value of people's lives with down syndrome but expresses that they just don't feel they can cope with raising a child with down syndrome. (Again, let's not argue whether this or justified or not, I'm just stating some background). However, what I have hard time dealing with emotionally is the other kinds of justifications that...
If You're Planning A Funeral..

If You Want A Funeral...
Q: how do you want it to be?? Yeah, I know, trivial question if you've just offed yourself...but...it's your last appearance...hehe. I'll go first... NO NO NO religious affiliations in any way...no gospel songs, except one (i'll explain later), no crosses, no bible readings, nothing in that nature in any way. Closed casket, cremation to follow, ashes scattered over my daughter's grave.... NO traditional funeral flowers...if flowers are necessary, red tulips and poppies only. Candles - I want candles everywhere... The gospel song?? Amazing Grace, by the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle Corp.....that's the only version I would want played... The rest of the music.... What's this life for - Creed I will...
"in Baghdad District, U.s. Forces No Longer Welcome" By Christine Hauser
Q: ""Freedom under the gun is no freedom at all," said Abdel Karim al-Shara." There it is, the millennia old realization. It comes from the mouth of a first rate witness, a present day Iraqi living on the some of the World's most ancient settled lands, an heir of millennia of human civilization and high culture. Who can reasonably contest his statement or what it implies, "Imperialists go home!"A: If, at this point, we simply pulled out, lock, stock and barrels, a tremendous civil bloodbath would immediately ensue. If we did pull out now, it *would* be like the Vietnam War (police action actually) where 2 MILLION people...
Intrusive Thoughts- A Little Disturbing
Q: Isn't it called Intrusive Thoughts when you have like an obsession but it doesn't repeat itself? I'm pretty sure I've read about it at least a couple of times somewhere but I'm too lazy to look it up right now. I just feel like writing. Anyway, with meds, that is all I have anymore. I was going to write about it in the annoying quirks thread but it has already died. I'm interested in hearing others intrusive thoughts too, if I even am using the term correctly. Mine include images of me falling down the stairs every time I am about to go...
Is There A Real God
Q: Let me put it plainly. Your "faith" prevents you from considering the lack of evidence of the existence of the deity you pray to. Your "faith" has no basis in reality.A: Religious historians KNOW that Christianity was assembled from parts of various previous religions. None of it is original. Not the Virgin Birth, not rising from the dead, nothing about Christianity is original except perhaps for using the name Christ which was a fairly common name at the time as was Jesus. There is something hard wired in our brains, it seems, perhaps part of the survival instinct, that wants to believe we will not die and it enables many...
It's Your Funeral ?
Q: I've seen this episode several times now and either I'm missing something or it is just not as deep as one might expect. Yes, the Stalinesque plan to murder the old No. 2 to justify massive reprisals on innocent citizens is interesting enough, but this whole Plan 'Division Q', designed to 'get' Number 6 seems a bit overhyped. My basic question: in this context does 'getting' Number 6 consist solely of motivating him to arrive at the green dome, warn Number 2 usurper (Derren Nesbitt) of a plot on his life so that he can be filmed, and an edited version shown to the old Number 2...
It's Your Funeral, *spoilers*
Q: I am very glad It's Your Funeral was brought up, since its plot has always puzzled me, and Scott put his finger on the difficulty when he wrote. >Why did the successor #2 want #6 involved in the assasination plot? ***Spoliers follow ****** In the episode, the successor #2 and his assistant take great pains to insure that #6 knows about the assasination plot (the watchmaker's daughter come to plead with him to get involved (it is implied that they have somehow arranged this), and they replace his watch with a broken one so that he will go to the watchmaker's and see for himself). Why is it...
"i Want To Know Why I'm Planning A Funeral While George Bush Is Planning A Wedding."

NEWS RELEASES from the United States Department of Defense No. 1017-07 IMMEDIATE RELEASE August 19, 2007 Media Contact: (703) 697-5131/697-5132 Public/Industry(703) 428-0711 DoD Identifies Army Casualty The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. Jerome's Funeral
Q: What a wonderful service. It seems that your relationship with Jerome was a lot like mine with Manuel. It also seems that they had similar "problems". Manuel's suicide was a result of what I would call situational anxiety and his moodiness, as he called it, began only a few weeks earlier although he obviously had thought of suicide for a long time as an option for him and he too had his planned and even long before it actually went into effect. It is so hard for everyone to understand because Manuel was happy except for perhaps the last few weeks of his life. It is just that...
Leonard's Funeral
Q: Where is Leonard going to be buried? In Los Angeles? Or is his body going to be flown back to Montr?al? Does anyone here plan to attend? Please post details if known.A: Oh Snow, you charming little bugger you - can he first finish his meal, drink up, pull his cock out of whatever crack it might be busy in right now, - can he possibly even draw his last breath before you?d leap at him with your shovel in hand? OK, granted: In view of how long you?d so anxiously been waiting meantime - tuxedo on and funeral oration hovering at the edge of your lips - it...
Life Magazine Article
Q: I just read an article in the March issue of Life (which I borrow from the library FWIW!) It hit home with the recent thread on finding a casket in a thriftshop. This man was dying of pancreatic cancer, and his wife and him started planning for his funeral. After shopping around, they decided to buy a casket themselves, do the funeral themselves, burying...everything. They got alot of flak from the "establishment" that they weren't allowed to do this, but after researching, they found that it wasn't true. The casket they bought cost $600 and looked like a quality one. All those little extras the funeral homes...
Long Car Trip, A Funeral & Breastfeeding?
Q: I went to PA over the weekend to see my ex-husband in the hospital. Arrived late Saturday night, and went to the hospital on Sunday. Unfortunately, when I was there, he was not in good shape... talking to people that weren't there (but were earlier... seemed to me that he was repeating a conversation from earlier in the day), and he was in a lot of pain, and very agitated. He didn't recognize me at all. (Also, a strange patient tried to snatch Charles from me in the hall! Very disconcerting!) I left Monday, and returned home late that night. My ex passed away yesterday morning. :( His...
Luther Vandross In Critical Condition
Q: Singer Luther Vandross 'Critical' After Stroke LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Grammy-winning singer Luther Vandross, who suffered a stroke last week, was in "critical but stable" condition on Monday, a hospital said. "Mr. Luther Vandross suffered a stroke on April 16 and is hospitalized at the Weill Cornell Medical Center of New York-Presbyterian Hospital," the hospital said in a statement. "He is in critical but stable condition." The hospital said it would release "no further details" on Vandross, who has battled weight and health problems for years and suffered the stroke just days before his 52nd birthday. Famed for his silky, soulful crooning as well as for his songwriting...
Lyrically Speaking
Q: Shamelessly vic'ed from another ng: Is there/are there any particular line or lines from an AIC song (or songs) that really stand out to you as an example of good writing all on their own, even when taken out of context?A: Brother Olson, please keep posting. I enjoy your articles very much. Since I disagree with some of the doctrine that's being presented, I think it best to not discuss things much (Hello! Internet Missionariies! Are you out there!), but I'm reading avidly and absorbing. WRT your post last week, one thing popped into my mind: while Brother Joseph certainly experienced suffering...
Magazine Fetish Cartoons By Superman Co-creator Joe Schuster
Q: The Sexy 'Secret Identity' Of Superman's Creator Listen Now [18 min 11 sec] http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=103290167 Author Craig Yoe explores the risque art of the man behind Superman in his new book, "Secret Identity: The Fetish Art Of Superman's Co-creator Joe Shuster." As Yoe explains, artist Joe Shuster did not earn much money for his part in the creation of the man of steel. After suing D.C. Comics over the copyright for Superman, Shuster drew art for an obscure series of magazines called "Nights Of Horror." In "Secret Identity," Yoe collects Shuster's racy drawings and details the scandal and murder trial related to Nights Of Horror. The author of over 30 books, Yoe...
Media Spin Cremation
Q: They have to spin the decision to cremate and spread the ashes at sea, since the average American would think the decision bizarre. Sea or not, no one in that family has ever been cremated and ashes spread at sea, and they know it.........A: So what? JFK Jr was the only decent Kennedy living. You seem to think you know something. If you do, say so. Why do you spam to alt.conspiracy? What's so bizzare about the spreading of ashes? For sure it was spin, but it was neccesary spin. The bodies were picked up sunday or monday, and lots of work had to be done...
Memcached Mysql Dotorg Booth
Q: Would love to see more volunteers for the memcached booth at the dotorg pavilion at the MySQL conference next week. If you are contributing to memcached and would like to answer questions, please show up at booth TT9 on Tuesday and/or Wednesday (21st and 22nd) between 9AM and 5PM. If you volunteer, please post back relevant comments/feedback/ questions/learnings that you hear to this group.A: I'll be at the booth for the entire time next week. I had been planning this via dormando (who sent a message similar to yours on the list a short while ago), and I have some supplies for the booth already. I manned...
Men, Do You Prefer A Stay-at-home Mom Or Not?
Q: I guess you haven't bottle fed a baby in a few decades then. Washing and sterililzing bottles was passe' by the 90s when sterile plastic liners for formula bottles became common. The liners also have the advantage that they result in less air ingestion at the end of the bottle---reducing the time spent burping the baby. We simply washed the nipples and bottles in the dishwasher--which seems to be accepted practice now. http://baby.families.com/blog/properly-cleaning-the-babys-bottle Do you assume that future offspring would inherit different characteristics from the current offspring? If you make no assumptions about current offspring, why would you have any...
Missed Opportunity
Q: Who cares about that? The name wasn't "broadcast" as if it were somehow private -- it was on the internet already as a contact for a domain!A: Again, I agree. What goes round, comes round. And as another saying goes, if you can't take the heat, then get out of the kitchen. There's always the killfile for those individuals who can't take what they dish out, although I never resort to that, as I feel that it is a cowardly and disrespectful act. In fact, there is a female who periodically infiltrates the scg group, who is hated by EVERYONE in that group and...
More Funeral Food
Q: Sorry about your neighbor. I got kicked out of a church also, kind of an excommunicated type thing. Don't worry, we'll make sure you won't be ashamed of your funeral party.A: The dificulty I faced when this happened to me is that everything happened so quickly. When you contact the DSS, they will want to see all relevant paper work, bank statements of the deceased etc etc, it's unlikley they will be in a position to give you an exact amount they will pay out there and then... I could go into much more detail of what happened to me but I wouldnt want to get...
Music For Your Funeral?
Q: Not that I wish any of you a speedy path to death I was wondering what music you would like to be played at your funeral. My first piece would be the Trio from Der Rosenkavalier ("Marie Theres..onwards) sung either live by the best singers in 2065, when I shall die at 101 or, alternatively, Scharwzkopf et al in Karajan's Philharmonia recording played in whatever medium will have then superceded CDs. Then the prelude to Parsifal, and probably some nice hymn to follow (as yet to be arranged or composed). To send things to a thunderous conclusion I would like to be catapulted to heaven (or Purgatory) by some...
Music To Ctb By
Q: I'm planning on using the charcoal method in my car. I already have the grills, charcoal, and duct tape and am just waiting on the meter. Here's the playlist I'm going to play as I shuffle off the mortal coil:A: I don't have a list, but I remember sitting in the hospital with a friend who was dying from AIDS complications, coming up with a playlist for his funeral service. A good friend of his made up CDs and handed them out at the wake afterwards. It was a pretty cool idea. You know, people REALLY should curb their exhibitionist tendencies to announce to the...

Mystery--at Least For Me Anyway--solved!
Q: For going on nine years now, ever since I and, subsequently three others, independently replicated F8 (which shows the bullet entry in the skull) and became 100% certain Humes had been correct about his near-EOP entry, I've been unable to come up with a believable explanation for why the entry is shown so far aove the hairline in the BOH photos. Recently, I advanced a theory (that DVP basically said was B/S) that the scalp was "stretched" and offered what I thought was some supporting evidence for that theory: that the scalp that (at Z-frame 313) was either missing and or macerated in the area of the...
Car Accident Injuries
Q: I'm not very coherent right now as I've only slept maybe 3 hours since Monday night... so this might not be as well written of a post as I would like it to be. Eh fuckit. Anyway, my Tuesday was spent at my son's basketball game. He's in 6th grade, he just reached the marker where he's now taller than me and he's the coolest boy ever. I adore him. (they lost the game... really bad calls by one ref) We get home and as I'm making him some chow, the phone rings: ::ring:: ::ring::...
New 911 Paper - Nano-thermite Compound Found In Wtc Dust
Q: Abstract and link to paper: http://www.bentham-open.org/pages/content.php?TOCPJ/2009/00000002/000... Blog style reviews: http://911blogger.com/node/19761 http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=13049 Active Thermitic Material Discovered in Dust from the 9/11 World Trade Center Catastrophe pp.7-31 (25) Authors: Niels H. Larsen doi: 10.2174/1874412500902010007 Abstract We have discovered distinctive red/gray chips in all the samples we have studied of the dust produced by the destruction of the World Trade Center. Examination of four of these samples, collected from separate sites, is reported in this paper. These red/gray chips show marked similarities in all four samples. One sample was collected by a Manhattan...
No Longer Wi: Us Captures Saddam Hussein
Q: It really depends on what George Bush wants to do? I think that now would be a good opportunity for the US to reduce its commitments in Iraq. Arrest a few more and announce a firm date for major withdrawals. Allow the Iraqis a chance to make their own future. That is what they want and let them have it. As the new Iraq is unlikely to be a danger to the world and will probably not murder too many of its own citizens. That should be acceptable in todays reality. You may find this article quite interesting. A: The Israeli military planned a daring assassination...
Non-lethal Approaches
Q: How about a four foot long stick of hard wood ? Unless you happen to be particularly good at using it, it's fairly easy to take away from you; and if you tag somebody with it properly (ie, in the head, so that they are incapacitated rather than angered) you are just as likely (if not more likely) to kill them. In addition, if there are multiple attackers, you are completely vulnerable to #2 as soon as you hit #1. [This is all assuming you don't have a black belt in some form of martial arts. If you did, you wouldn't need the...
No One Left To Lose...(long)
Q: There you are over on ASAP giving me wonderful support when your heart is breaking too. Your life has touched me, I think you must be so brave to live in this vast wasteland we call Earth alone and dealing with all this grief alone. I wish I could just take you in and mother you to death. Your story is like Cinderella...only you have not found your true prince yet. I wish I could help you in some way shape or form. I know what you mean about being OT on the different ng's, I have to watch my...
Oh God Not Another Survey...
Q: OK, back from what turned out to be a short trip. Maybe going for a longer one later. Anyway, what interests me is this...does anyone have a preference for the music at their funeral? I want a non-religious do, so no hymns for me. Do you have a favourite hymn, or some damn good rock music to blow the place apart?A: I don't think my family(*) does funerals. After the deceased has been properly cremated and disposed of, they do a memorial service, and there's never any music at it. I like thier way of handing it. I want a Ten Foot Pole...
Okay, Enough Of This Reagan Bullshit Already
Q: And if you had it on an Indian flying elephant, it would be a Mumbai jumbo Dumbo mumbo-jumbo gumbo.A: It is standard protocol that when a President leaves office that he meets with a representative of the Military District of Washington in regards to a State funeral plan. Every President has done, including Clinton. you want insight about why? Here's what motivated me to go: My professional life (and, by extension, my personal life too) was very much influenced by his administration's policies. His death moved me, and my presence within "X feet of the corpse" almost certainly means nothing to anybody but me. My attire,...

Pagan Funeral
Q: With the Pagan/Christian marriage thread going on, this may be a good time to post something that has been on my mind for some months now... I've been trying for some time to come up with some kind of burial/funeral instructions for myself (yes, I'm still young, but anyway). But I can't seem to get around the one big problem: I'm Pagan (following my own tradition, which is mixed from Wiccan, Norse, and Finnish ingredients, with some shamanism for good measure), but most of my family are at least nominally Christians. So I need to come up with something that's not too objectionable for Christians, but also...
Patrick Sullivan Must Be My Lover
Q: He dreams of me constantly, and likes nothing better than to try and shove it up me bum.A: John Sheffield posted as "River" at the time. Because John often worked on rivers in the construction industry, building and repairing docks etc.. Here is the story about the suicide death of Suzy Gonzales and aftermath of Suzy Gonzales' death. ...From two ASH trolls who have posted here on numerous occasions that ASH should not exist, and have made it their mission to make sure it doesn't. ...and another ASH troll/conspiracy theorist who believes suicide is wrong under all circumstances. Q: http://www.legacy.com/BostonGlobe/LegacySubPage2.asp?Page=LifeStory&P... Id=1710107 Notice of services for Peter. I got a message that that URL was invalid. Carol, you have to highlight the whole url. Judy... Love many, trust few, always paddle your own canoe.A: She has a laptop at hand. Please think and reconsider, the family is not just planning a funeral, but 9 people displaced from their home. I know that donations and help is pouring in right now, but they need time and rest to get through this next week. I mean no offense to all your generosity, but my feeling is to give them time, and then continue support. Judy... planning a funeral, but 9 people...

Pimm Jal De La Parra's Funeral Service
Q: Today the funeral service was held in Amsterdam for Pimm Jal de la Parra. Close to threehundred people of all ages attended and listened to moving speeches by friends and relatives as they shared their dearest memories of this kind, loving and passionate man who gave so much to so many. His untimely death at the age of 35 leaves a void in all their hearts and minds. Songs from David Bowie and U2 were played, the latter conveying their sympathy by sending flowers and a message of condolance to the next of kin. Please, no messages to my personal e-mail adress about this subject.A: The sudden death of "DAVID...

Planned Your Own Funeral? (funeral Poll)
Q: I've lost a fair number of people in my family in the past year, the most recent being my mother-in-law (dead of brain cancer, age 58). I attended her funeral just before thanksgiving, and it was the saddest, corniest thing I ever saw. Pathetic speeches from people I was relaated to yet had never even met, HORRIBLE Margaret Dumont-style warblings of "Amazing Grace." All of which got me to thinking about how badly I wanted not to be the inadvertant star of such a hideous event. Upon further reflection I realized that I had actually formulated over the years a pretty precise idea...
Planning A Funeral
Q: I recently saw a photograph of a young woman's grave showing a large gravestone made out of granite that stood about waist high. It was carved in the shape of a weeping angel hunched over a rectangular stone. She was kneeling in front of it with her head in her hands and with her arms resting on top of the gravestone. Kind of like she collapsed from complete exhaustion due to her grief. Her wings looked very wilted and sad. Even from the photograph this monument created such a mood of sadness and melancholy in honor of this person that I almost...
Planning A Funeral For A Tranny
Q: Got the bad news today that my automatic tranny is showing some signs of impending doom. Got the fluid and filter changed today and the shop told me the pan had excessive black material collected in the bottom of the pan. They told me that it could either be from a clutch lining or a band(?). By the way, it's a 1991 XLT with 78000 miles on it. My question is are there particular signs to be looking for as the tranny starts to fail? (or will it just die suddenly?) Would like to detect it before I'm left out...
Planning A Funeral In Toronto
Q: Does anyone know of any websites with information on planning a funeral. All the one I have seen are sponsored by funeral homes and I would like to find some that are less biased.A: Celestis will send your loved ones to their eternal rest in orbit, for a fee. They're the group that launched pop culture guru Timothy Leary to his celestial sleep back in 1997. And for a price ranging from $1,000 to $5,300 (U.S.), you can join him when the time comes. The company shoots as many as 150 ash-filled containers into the heavens from a rocket launched in Russia. The remains orbit the earth...
Playing Hooky
Q: I'm home for the next three days because my ex's mother-in-law (the one he moved in with us when it became apparent that she had Alzheimer's disease) has finally, and mercifully passed away. While I'm persona non grata as far as he's concerned, the kids asked me to hang around and help them out because he's incapable of planning anything and the task of planning her funeral is falling to the two oldest. This is causing considerable stress, especially on my daughter, who he asks for help, then proceeds to harangue and harrass in public while she's going about it. I thought she was...
Please Respond: Questionable Sales Visit
Q: I just found out from my parents today that they talked with a Funeral Prearrangement Counselor from: National Prearranged Services, Inc. out of St. Louis, MO. The salesman apparently spent about 3 hours with them and "helped" them pick out caskets and such and sold them this plan totaling about $11,000 to be paid at the rate of around $200/month for about 10 years. My question is this: If they already have life insurance to take care of these costs, why on Earth would they need to shell out more money on a plan like this? My parents are both retired and the...
Poor Service From Quadratec!!!!!
Q: I recently ordered one of the new molded center consoles for 97-99 wranglers. The sales person assured me that it was absolutely great. I ordered one based on his recommendation. What I received was an absolute piece of crap. It was poorly constructed, the color was also inconsistent. It was basically just rough all the way around in construction. . I did send it back, when I called and complain, they presented the "too bad" attitude. I am out the shipping booth ways. I am not mad about the shipping that is the chance you take...
Portland Police Close Federal Interstate Highways During Rush Hour For Funeral
Q: With the electronic freeeway signs reading "road construction ahead" Portland Police closed the interstate highway loop around downtown (clockwise direction) as well as I-84 inbound for the slow speed extended funeral procession. The roads were closed well before the start of the cortege (30-60 minutes in advance) Traffic was hopelessly congested as tens of thousands of motorists crept along the remaining roads. Does the Police Bureau have the authority to close federal highways without a public safety necessity? Is a permit required? Is the creation of a media spectacle to honor a slain officer justification for the theft by wasting of untold hours of citizens' time? Should...
Pre-term Death Of A Child
Q: This may sound like an insensitive question, but my wife and I lost twins in December at 16 weeks of pregnancy. Does the IRS recognize our children as dependents?A: No they don't. To claim a dependent you would have to be able to get a SSN for the child. If they were born, and even lived for a minute you could get an SSN, and claim them as dependents. You can however, take any medical expenses on Schedule A. My condolences on your loss. However, the IRS only recognizes LIVE births, even if they only live for a minute. The key point is...
Pre Paid Funeral Plan
Q: My wife recently passed away,as I purchased a double grave ready for myself the funeral directors have offered me the chance to purchase a funeral plan for myself for ?1500. This would mean even though im only 40 i could still be buried at todays prices even in 30 years time. Included in the price are the dipersments of ?500 but this money is only held in trust ready to pay the church(todays price is ?100),council cemetery fees (todays price as the grave is fully paid is ?150) and announcment (todays price ?25). Does this seem a good deal or would I be better banking the money...
Ps2 Funera
Q: Oh, I'm crueler than that. I have a campaign button from the DC's pre-launch season that has the Dreamcast Swirl and the words: "Dreamcast, I've seen it!" I'm going to start wearing that again, and I'm going to make another campaign button with the PS2 logo and the words: "PS2, Have you seen any?"A: anyone want to join me in a funeral for the ps2? my plan is to build a small casket, place a ps2 logo on the front, build a small headstone, name it "ps2: 10/2000 - 12/2000" and leave it in the parking lot of a toys r us on 'launch' day. or maybe even in front...
Qm - Practical/insensitive Questions
Q: Anyone who remembers my past postings will know I was fond of the Queen Mother, and I am of course sad about her death. Inside me, I think I really felt she'd live forever, and that she'd always been here too. A weird feeling really. However, I can never stop my curiosity working.. During Diana's later life, she couldn't so much as pick her nose without a camera or journalist noticing. I don't suppose the focus on other royals was/is anywhere near as intense, but I wondered how soon in the day it came to the attention of the press that all was not...
Rasfc London Meet?
Q: Has there been one recently? I just did a quick search and thought there'd been one in Feb whilst I was offline but realised that was 2008. If not, would people be up for one?A: 'Tis a full moon, that day (and also ANZAC day). 'Tis also the day Nicolas J. Pelletier becomes the first person executed by guillotine; the structure of DNA is announced; the St Lawrence Seaway opens to shipping; integrated circuits get patented; Pioneer 10 moves beyond the orbit of Pluto; and Boris Yeltsin has a funeral (thank you, Wikipedia). An auspicious day for a meeting, then. Can I come? Wasn't planning to...
Reagan Funeral
Q: Gwendolyn Alden Dean wrote: Cornelia Wyngaarden wrote: While you two have taken on polishing your nitpicking talents I am left to wonder why you choose the words that vaguely glosses over the word women. Why is this exactitude not worth nitpicking? Nevermind I don't need an answer. Cause we know the answer. Or you'd simply like to presume you do. Ya don't; not even close; but don't let that stop you.A: And as I already posted, if someone proposes a workable alternative to replace "men" in both places, I'd be happy to use it, just as...
Real Life
Q: i agree 100%!!!!! as soon as i saw this episode, i realized what had been missing from the voyager episodes, and that is multiple story lines. to me it seems that voyager, more often than not, hinges everything on the crux of one story. and this can sometimes come off as a gimmick. it was really refreshing to see two somewhat independent story lines. but the storylines don't have to be independent to be effective. even if they utilized more fully other characters into each story line, kind of like the episode of ng, i believe it was called disaster. the actual narrative elements of...
Republicans Upset Over Bush Plan To Use Reagan Images, Speeches In Campaign Ads
Q: I think it is a crying shame the conservatives are making a stink about this. I fully support the president's plans to air these ads. And besides, who the hell does Nancy Reagan think she is? Dubya, win one for the Gipper!!! Run those ads!A: Bush: "Look at ME... I am just like Reagan!!!" Yeah, right. Reagan has been so idolized/sanitized/glorified/sanctified that any comparison will only make Georgie look like a little boy. This wild media orgy - wholly owned and operated by Republicans - over Reagan will stay awhile. It took several years for people to realize that Princess Di was just...
R.i.p. Layne Staley (alice In Chains Singer)
Q: Layne Staley, lead singer and guitarist for the grunge band Alice in Chains, was found dead in his apartment, authorities said Saturday. He was 34. Tests were required to establish the identity because the body, discovered Friday, had started to decompose. The cause of death had not been determined, a representative of the King County Medical Examiner's office said Saturday without giving his name. Police did not immediately release details on anything that was found at the scene, and a spokesman did not respond to several messages Yahoo Story Ends. Even though it would seem that his influence on music had...
Robert Jr And Ted Kennedy's Grief Over Jfk Jr Showed
Q: dasbaby, i agree. that was wonderfully put. We dont have the right to say that Caroline is unfeeling and cold. My God, her brother...the only person in the world who really understood what she went through died and people come out and attack her for not crying as the cameras snapped pictures of her. leave her alone people. She is obviously VERY strong, but that doesnt make her cold and uncaring. She did what was right for her brother...burying him in a place he loved so much and where he grew up. We dont have the right to say it was wrong to scatter his ashes...
Rough Week..
Q: We're still alive and kicking here! Last week was bad because DS got some intestinal virus and was the sickest he's ever been. We ended up with a 9 hour visit to the children's hospital with IVs and x-rays and lots of waiting. Everything turned out OK (no blockages) but we were frightened when he stopped throwing up and his stomach swelled up like a starving child from one of those poor countries. There were lots of traumas at the hospital when we were there and a wee one even lost his life in the ER. Too terrible for words. DS perked up...
Royals Asked To Plan Funerals
Q: According to The Electronic Telegraph, William and Harry, among other royals, have been asked to decide how they want their funerals. In the aftermath of the confusion caused by Diana's early death, the government invited then to choose the style of music and guest list they would like at the commemorative service....The Queen and Charles are said to have already done this and of course the QM's is planned. Now, call me crazy but I think Harry is a bit young to plan anything, especially a guest list for his funeral.A: I started planning my funeral on my 10th birthday and have updated it...
S10 Character Opinions So Far
Q: It is no more spurious of an assumption than Sharon's assumption that she simply ignored Carter completely for those several days. (And surely if she HAD ignored him completely, there would have been some dialogue to that effect... "Gee... I haven't seen Abby since Gamma died. It would have been nice if she'd Think of Abby at Offut AFB. That's the model I think we have in mind as to what any intervening days were regarding Abby's activities. I dont' think she's evul either. But her pattern isn't a hopeful one in this regard. shown me some support, Dad, doncha think?")A: Personally I do...
Sad Criminal President Settles Into A Life Of Suburban Desperation
Q: http://gawker.com/5208042/sad-criminal-president-settles-into-a-life-... The Washington Post has published a detailed, massive report http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/04/10/AR200... on George and Laura Bush's post-White House life, and it's like Revolutionary Road with war crimes. The Bushes are cocooned on their $2.4 million estate in the (formerly all-white) Dallas neighborhood of Preston Hollow, where Laura whiles away her days shopping for furniture and George maniacally rides his mountain bike in circles around their cul-de-sac, monitoring his heart rate. Laura is--seriously!--planning on taking up yoga, apparently in a bid to find something, anything, to take her mind off of the awful shame. Here's a scene from their life, when a local Cub Scouts canvassed their neighborhood in a food drive: "Just...
Saturday, May 9 10am At Peachtree Middle
Q: The Man, The Myth, The Legend. I'm ready to return to the pitch a few pounds heavier and a step slower. Who else wants to play Saturday at 10 at Peachtree Middle?A: Sorry, cannot play because of child's YMCA game (fyi unless there is a rainout, this is the last weekend for YMCA games, so maybe the fields will be available again) Local television coverage included an interview with family and friends of the deceased along with "Latino Community Leaders" (as one comment-leaver to the Omaha World-Herald on-line edition wrote: "I am a Latina and I didn't give permission for these people to represent...
Scattered Thoughts
Q: The topic has been mentioned on the group several times already, so it didn't occur to me it might be a problem. (The thread about GV and NW filming in Hawaii some episodes that take place in Africa comes to mind. And it WAS pretty heavily forshadowed in the current episode, where Carter tells Abby that he got the "Doctors Without Borders" paperwork and shots, but hasn't made up his mind yet.) But, I'll try to be more careful in future. (Still kinda new here.)A: The loss of a closs loved one is a blow. certain things the staff can handle but some things CARTER...
Seeking For Advice: Pancreas Cancer- Bile Duct Blocked Again After Bypass Surgery
Q: My father was diagnosed with Pancreas cancer in Jan. 2003. The tumore was found in the head of the pancreas. To relief the jaundice, the doctor inserted a stent in the bile duct at the very begining. One month later (in March), the doctor did a bypass surgery so that the bile fluid no longer passes through duodena. After 8 months, although still no evidence of the spreading of the cancer, the doctor has to draw about 2 kg of body fluid from his stomach very 10 days. Now blood works are showing that his bile duct is getting blocked again. This time, the doctor...
Set Filters Or Leaving List
Q: I have been gone for the last week and a half. My husband and I spent Memorial Day with my in-laws. My father-in-law died this past Memorial day of a major heart attack. There was nothing that could be done to save his life. His death was a blessing, as it meant that he would not have to linger on with terminal cancer of the kidney. If you remember I had mentioned how ill my father-in-law was, and had mentioned that I was going to be gone for Memorial Day weekend. The weekend turned into 10 days. When you are grieving, planning a funeral and supporting a...
Sick Of Republican Hypocracy: A Rant
Q: Some wacko in waco is trying to get people to stop buying girl scout cookies because the council was sponsoring or supporting planned parenthood. *sigh* GOTDAMNIT. Why can't the just put 1/10th of this energy into educating people about safe sex? That would go a long way to curbing unwanted pregnancies. I am so fucking sick of the crap that has been going on in this country over the last 4 weeks. If I hear one more time how banning gay marriages is protecting children, I will just go postal. If these assholes were worried about kids, there wouldn't be one child in this country homeless or without...
Surrender Drivers License
Q: Mrs. Misc's dad totaled his 2nd car this year (I'm suggesting he surrender his license before we read about him backing over kids on the warf...) and is laid up in the hospital with 2 broken ribs, a collapsed lung and a myriad of other bangs & bruises. Thank goodness he was in the new car with all the airbags. Anyway, it'd drive him nuts to think that a bunch of folks were smoking cigars to "aid his recovery", but a kind thought and a good word to the higher power of your choice probably wouldn't bother...
Sorry!) Can Someone Proofread My Special Requests For Funeral Plan?
Q: sorry, i was wondering if someone could proofread my special requests for my funeral plan and tell me if it is clearly written or if I have forgotten anything (obviously not with regards to what I would want as a special request, but rather details I should include so nothing will remain in question....) I know it seems a bit stupid about prearranging funeral flowers, type of coffin, etc. because i will be dead and not care at the time but its kind of nice to think that I will at least have something to "look forward to" or at least have a token gesture for...
Sorry If This Is Disturbing ..
Q: "Disturbing" is not the word I was thinking of. Try "tasteless" instead. Disturbing? No. Tasteless? Yes. Poor judgement? Yes. I think people here are very aware of the possibility of an untimely death. I think we can decide if and when it is time to plan for such. The negative impact of this post far outweighs any possible benefit that this cheap advertisment may have. Morons!A: I am sorry if this is disturbing but I want to talk about Funeral Planning. Most funerals are unnecessarily expensive simply because the bereaved family are in no condition to shop around and negotiate bargans. Often the...
Spoiler Info...do Not Read If You Do Not Want To Know
Q: Please if you do not want to know do not read what is posted below.. If you do want to know then enjoy I got this off a wonderful board. In an attempt to get Carmen to crack under the pressure of her son's "funeral" Michelle tries to get her to say a few words of remembrance in honor of Danny. Will Carmen be up to the challenge? Or, will she dash out of the ceremony in a dither? Time will tell. Meanwhile, Gus and Harley panic when Danny is a no-show, flaking his commitment to fulfill his part in their plan to catch Carmen. Will...
Strategy Needed For Donation Policy
Q: A few weeks ago I, like others of you, were caught up in a flurry of emails about donation -- on the one hand we have the status quo (UNOS, OPTN, states with this and that, hoarding and registration seemingly contradictory), HHS, and on another hand we have LifeSharers, in which in return for agreeing to be a donor you get first dibs on an organ should you need one. On another hand, we have Presumed Consent, with an assortment of foundations and organizations, and on still another hand we've got debates about paying for organs. Heck, I've even got a plan called Plan B, my...
Suicide
Q: My name is Jessica, and I've decided that within the next month to a year that I will kill myself. I'm waiting because I decided that I shouldn't be a burden, even in death, so I'm going to pay off all my debts (student loans, Visa, the like) and as well pay for my funeral. But also I decided it wouldn't be fair to my psychiatrist and counsellor and myself if I don't put in an honest effort. So joining this group and attempting to connect to others is part of that effort.A: Are you from New Brunswick? (Just guessing from your e-mail address). I'm in Vancouver, but...
Suv A Plan
Q: I've figured Atlanta traffic out! The town is made up mainly of people from all of the U.S., ususally large or medium sized cities. In each of those cities, Boston, New York ,L.A. et al there seems to be a certain consistency, even if it is not safe driving, at least it's predictable. Atlanta has all these people from all over the world and each are trying to drive the way they did in "whereever". All Atlanta needs is a consistent way to be insane while driving instead of this willy nilly uncouth insanity. I suggest we adopt a style such as Rome, Italy...
Texas Hero's Funera
Q: I think President Bush does not want to show his weakness. He seems to me to be a very emotional person. No one wants to see our president in tears. He has sent letters to all the familys.A: No you cant Jonathan, all you can do is vote for a diffrent person. I kind of like Kerry and Clark, but the Democrats are so fu*#ing stupid they will chose Dean, the biggest fake smile, left wing, far out loser that ever ran for office. If that happens I will be cancelling your vote and going with Bush. The only reason Im not commiting to...

The Big Day
Q: Isabella flinched as Gohan's arm slapped the top of her head as he waved his hand about frantically with his mouth open and his tongue out. He shifted some more on her sholders trying to catch the slowing falling red dust. "Gohan don't try to eat the Spam," she growled. "But it looks like snow..." he started. "Yeah but it sure stings," she said as she rubbed her eyes, damn Spam that stuff got everywhere. "Besides if you eat it up we'll only get more." Gohan finally got bored with the redish dust that was cluttering the NG. Isabella relaxed and focused on the threat...
The Columbine Memorial - Sans Jws
Q: The Memorial Service held yesterday in Littleton, Colorado for the slain students and teacher at Columbine High School. I watched it on CNN. It was very touching. Still alive students, two brothers named Cohen opened up the occasion with a song they co-wrote about the tragedy. It was a song that was only 4 days old, but completely captured the scope of the massacre, but highlighted the hope which could never be put to death. You had a mix of speakers, the Vice President, the Colorado Governor, School superintendent, teachers, students, pastors, priest, and rabbi, but NO jehovah witness Elder. Why?A: This charge doesn't make any sense. JWs would only have been there...
The Elephant Is In The Room. Want To Discuss It?
Q: What do you think about South Dakota trying to outlaw all abortion? I have heard several talk shows today, who said yes, lets force the issue with Alito and Roberts to find out how they are going to vote. When it comes right down to it, many of the talk show conservatives don't really think that they will vote down RvW. I am fairly confident that several states will retain legal abortions no matter what other states decide. Sorry that women may have to travel.A: Actually, there is national consensus; fully 2/3 of voters want to keep abortion safe and legal. I'm with you, Rae....
The Last Man Who Witnessed Israel's Declaration Of Independence
Q: The last man who witnessed Israel's declaration of independenceA: What happened to these wee gems, you ancient, obese, smelly jew slag? The yids seem to have totally ignored their own declaration in great part. THE STATE OF ISRAEL will be open for Jewish immigration and for the Ingathering of the Exiles; it will foster the development of the country for the benefit of all its inhabitants; it will be based on freedom, justice and peace as envisaged by the prophets of Israel; it will ensure complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex; it will guarantee freedom...
The Light At The End Of The Tunnel
Q: I've finally figured out what that stupid shiny happy phrase means. The tunnel is life, the light at the end is death. I have no life...my whole life now is just waiting for the end. I have the perfect method, all that's left is to consummate my relationship with suicide. Before I do so though I'm going to plan my funeral, and also how to carry this out with the least amount of trauma to those who'll find me. I plan to hang myself in my room, when I have about 45 minutes without any interruptions. I was thinking of putting a chair or something against the door, and...
The Queen And Diana's Funeral
Q: It was all fairly unscripted . No one knew Elton would wiggle his eyebrows or that Earl Spencer would speak from a burning fire within his heart and soul nor that applause would break out for his grand heart and courage. None of the media nor the real Royal Watchers knew that Fergs would appear at Buckingham Palace with Princess Eugenie or Princess Beatrice or that she would sit with the royals. None of the media knew that Fergs and Andrew would then go together to the Abbey. None of the media knew that Philip would walk and so on You just do not pay...
The Royal Funeral
Q: Princes William and Harry, along with other members of Britain's royal family, have been asked to design their own funerals. The British Government, wanting to avoid a repeat of the confusion after the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, has invited them to set down a guest list and music preferences for their funeral services. Is this really serious? We have heard crap before from the Royals, but this is unbelievable. It is about time that the English royal family realise their performance is not tolerated in today's world and if they are tolerated by the rest of us they should learn from the what is left of European royalty.A: Your...
The Silvercare Plan
Q: i hate that commercial, they repeat the company name like 15 times.A: Personally, I think it's about one of the dumbest commercials I've come across. For one, I have to wonder if the sponsor's statement about "the average funeral now cost[ing] $6,000" assumes such being purchased "at-need" (i.e., at the time of death) or "pre-need" (i.e., ahead of death, as part of a "pre-need" plan). If truth be known, "at-need" funerals are usually more expensive than such as are planned in advance. Any funeral director will show you this. (Too, such an offer easily has appeal to such among the Lower Classes as traditionally don't have access to funeral-planning...
Today's Plan Ahead Url
Q: I think this one will be a state funeral too... http://www.thedesertsun.com/news/stories2004/local/20040630005729.shtml Chris "Our long national nightmare is over..." HansenA: FWIW: My last stint as a volunteer in a major political race was Gerald Ford's 1976 campaign. One of the more memorable events was the Saturday I spent riding a campaign bus around Nashville's suburbs, stopping at shopping centers to hand out campaign literature to passersby. Three or four people from Georgia were along for the ride, holding signs and handing out leaflets decrying Jimmy Carter's tenure as governor of the Peach State. As it turns out, four years later I did end up voting for Carter, but it was...
To Those Who Oppose Me
Q: ever thought that maybe you are just one of the luckier ones? I would say that what you describe a failure should be more aptly described as a success. Put it this way, if our society allowed for only supporters of the US/UK actions in Iraq while censoring anyone who was opposed to them, then our so-called free society would be anything but free. You and your group have demonstrated that we do indeed live in a free society and can demonstrate our opinions as we see fit. And for supporters of the US/UK actions such as myself, you and the...
Two Servers And A Funeral
Q: I need a good piece of advice... I should bury old NT4/exch5.5 combination, and switch to 2000 or 2003 environment, so I am in search for "best practice" advices. :O) Situation today: we're running web, mail, print, and file server on just one machine (NT4.0 and Exchange5.5) Situation in coming weeks: web server (probably win2003srvr) is on a separat (new) machine, and mail, file and print server are on the other machine (the old one, but this time with either win2000 SBS, or a combination of win2000/3, exchange 2000 and SQL 2000) Now: 1.) what combination of operational system should I choose (I know that fx exchange2000 would...
Tying Social Security To The Volatile Stock Market. A Very Bad Idea
Q: The idea sounds great, at a time like this, when the economy is doing so well, and the stock market is on a constant rise. But what happens when the stock market takes a huge plunge, as it seems to do every few years (sometimes every few months, or every few days)? Then the future of millions of people could be wiped out, in an instant. Hey, it HAS happened in the past. The idea of relying on a social security future built on the volatile stock market is like relying on a nuclear power plant built on an earthquake fault line. Depending on what time period you...
Uncle Sam On Gmail
Q: Please add this address to your lists. Have a Happy Passover! If I can figure it out, I will send pictures soon.A: I'm sorry to do this by e-mail, but I wanted to share the sad news that my mom's mom, Rae Levin, passed away on Tuesday evening. She became suddenly very sick and then had to have emergency surgery to repair a hernia (of some kind). She survived the surgery but just didn't make it through the recovery in the ICU. My grandpa, Bob Levin, hasn't been doing very well himself, health-wise. He also just had emergency surgery and is in...
Update .
Q: Hi everyone ... Its after 1 am here in the states right now and I just got home. I thought I would give you an update. They are giving mom some stuff to thin her blood (not cuminden? - the other stuff). So ... we will see what happens next. Its up to the powers that be now. I never had control over life ... and I'm not going to ask for it. Thanks to all of you who are sending energy. It means a...
Viking Funera
Q: Real pavers never die, they just stop on the PaveSurface (tm) and other drivers whack the car around at high speeds until the car and person is reduced to the size of purely theoretical particles... You are sort of right. Drivers cannot die... ever. For a driver to die would demonstrate his lack of mastery of the world. The whole anti biodiversity parts of the Plan (tm) are there simply to demonstrate mans complete mastery of his environment, dying is a failure of that mastery. Drivers cannot die, because driver who dies commits heresy against the Plan and is thus a Pit Slave and Pit Slaves...
Villians At Hal's Funeral?
Q: Who were the villians at Hal Jordan's funeral? I noticed one was the Tatooed Man. I thought one might be Polaris, but I'm not sure, and I have no idea who the third guy was. Does anyone else know?A: You peoples been snowed! Hal no dead! Him up here with other Pre-Crisis fellas. And villains at funeral were me (was there for buffet), the Jovial Jackass (aka SNAPPER CARR, him were there to pick up women), and you MAMA! HAW HAW HAW HAW HAWWW!!! Wal-mart..the Scene Of Child Negelct
Q: Last night my husband and I took the kids over to Wal-Mart to pick up a few things. When we pulled into the parking stall I noticed that the car next to us had three kids in the back seat...looking to all be six and under...one was in a car seat and looked to be the same age as my grandson (around two). I got out of the car and quickly realized that there were no adults around anywhere, and that the windows were rolled up, and the doors were locked. I sent my son inside to customer service to ask for security to meet me...

Were Bill And Hillary Sleeping During Regan Funeral?
Q: I saw it on tv and it looked like Hillary was sleeping and Bill was fighting to keep at least one eye open.Didn't Bill complain that he wasn't invited to speak and now he can't even stay awake while sitting there. It looked like a couple of 7 year olds at church on a sunday morning.A: He never balanced a budget for his own term, what he did was have balanced budget predictions for future years, and he used the Social Security Surplus to do it CBO Puts Clinton Deficit at $69 Billion Clinton's 5th Unbalanced Budget Shows Why America Needs the BBCA "I would present a five-year...
What Bd Song Would You Want Played At Your Funeral?
Q: How many seriously plan to have Bob played at their funeral? Chris Coyle i plan to have him planned at my trial....A: The harp solo at the end of "Just Like A Woman", BOB version. Can't explain it but nothing describes me better than those notes. I've actually planned to make a tape of it and give it to some close relative, with strict orders.. And while we're on the subject, what Bob Dylan song will you play if you're around on that dreadful day when HE dies? I do hope it won't happen in the next million years, but my choice would be to open...
What Is Keeping Me Busy These Days....
Q: Apart from all the inevitable dailies .... ... I have been visiting my grandma more frequently as she has been labouring with death for four months. Last week saw me at my grandma's deathbed one day and visiting her daughter,my mum, in hospital the other day and so on. Saturday my grandma finally died shortly before her 100th birthday just after my mum's op. Now I am taking my mum's place to prepare for the funaeral and do all the ways. This is keeping me busy - but not busy enough to rack my brains about one big issue: The pattern of problems with letting loose that seems be quite...
Options Available At Stage Iv Breast Cancer
Q: My wife is still in stage IIa, but try as I may, I find that I still need to be prepared for the worst, should it come. I understand that after treatment (chemo + radio), there is still a chance of it reappearing elsewhere. If it reappears in the breast, then that's not so bad, right? It's another lumpectomy, perhaps a mastectomy, more chemo, maybe more radio, right? If it reappeared elsewhere, what's the outlook? I know it's not good - but how bad is it? Is the prognosis made "automatically", so to...
When Someone Dies
Q: I don't know if this is the place to ask this sort of thing, and I feel like sometimes I just don't know some basic life skills. But I was wondering, what is a close relative supposed to do if their relative passes away? Do hospital employees refer you to the proper channels? I'd imagine that contacting their house of worship may be a start. And if you know there is a will, who do you contact to get that taken care of, the lawyer who prepared it (who for all I know might no longer be located in the same place)?...
When Ted Kennedy Waterboarded Mary Jo Kopechne, It Was Still Legal...
Q: In fact, you could still get reelected to US Senator back in those days...still can today from what the people of MA tell us. But if you waterboard a man who masterminded the killing of 3,000 people in one day in the US, well that is just beyond the pale. And a planned attack on LA was also busted up. Even if waterboarding him prevented a similar attack in London that would have killed even more Londoners and Californians, it's just awful...those waterboarders should go to jail. Maybe the waterboarders should have actually drown Kahlid Sheik Mohamad instead of making him squeal. Then he'd be dead just like...
Whos Funeral On Bbc?
Q: some funeral going on on bbc1 we were told it was Reagans, but it cant be as all the people describing him, seem to be talking about a differant person. also is it not great that the USA is the beacon and hope for the world, wow i feel so safe having been told that. are all yanks on drugs or something, they are as important as a scab on my dickA: May , 2004- On September 15, 2001, just four days after the 9-11 attacks, CIA Director George Tenet provided President [sic] Bush with a Top Secret "Worldwide Attack Matrix"-a virtual license to kill targets deemed to be...
Who Wants To Help Tweak This Deck?
Q: Just threw together a shell of a discard deck and am interested in different points of view. My only request is that suggestions are friendly, and not arrogant. Please do your best to explain your choices so anyone reading can be sure they know what you mean. For example, "I'd get rid of Mind Burst and Put in Skull Fracture." might not be understood so just add why, please.A: No, I'd keep the Mind Burst. I'd take SF over Mind Peel for the mana ease, but I'd rather Mind Burst. It's a decent "replacement" for Hymn to Tourach. Also you may want to...
Who Would Come To Your Funeral?
Q: Okay, if you spontaneously dropped dead today (victim of rabid gerbils, perhaps), who do you think, besides family, would be likely to come to your funeral? Myself, I would specify in my will to have a wake instead, but then again if I drop dead suddenly I would not have such niceties I imagine being wrapped in cellophane and sold to the circus as the 'undead geek' attraction. So basically the kind of people who would go to such freakshows would go to my 'funeral'. Am I pessimistic or what?A: I personally plan to be cremated. I cannot imagine my corpse sitting in a box and roting...
Why Don't More People Know More About The Ftc's Funeral Rule?
Q: I think the above is great! I didn't know there were people like you and your group doing this. I think that's an excellent point. Death among people close to me is so infrequent that I hardly ever have to deal with death and I've never had to arrange a funeral or anything much having to deal with death. If someone close to me died and I had to handle funeral expenses, I'd probably be fine with paying whatever the funeral home charged, due to my lack of expertise. I also wouldn't feel that this is an opportunity to save some money, because I know almost...
"why Have A Funeral?" (long)
Q: The following is the text of a pamphlet presently in wide distribution in US funeral homes and, for all I know, churces and nursing homes. It's a tract aimed at persuading people to go back to the tradition of old-fashined funerals. I was wondering what you all might think of it. It struck me as bizarre. So here's "Why Have a Funeral?" It's by a minister named Doug Manning, and it's about 1600 words.A: Never liked funerals. It's not the way I want to remember last seeing a person. Not crazy about the other end of the spectrum either - being present...
Wildflower
Q: 1. last group to leave. Fucking studs. 2. jholla, lick my butt. 3. tanner, you will forever be shunned for steamrolling over that baby mouse and exploding it. 4. also, tanner, thank you for giving me my shirt, that you probably took on purpose, now that i think of it. 5. I lost my laptop while writing this. 6. sleeping in tents with poly reps = straight up helicopter boner. 7. Here is to permanent tan lines. 8. "id suck a fat dick for (insert anything)." Julian"will never think three is a crowd ever again"WagnerA: 1. I was the 4th littlest spoon. 2. Chester, you gave me a...
Wind Turbines
Q: Hi Brian, Congrads to you and the crew at Las Tusas Ranch for the new wind turbine flying in those pictures. Awesome! I was watching the green channel the other day and saw a different type of wind turbine, called a Verticle Axis Wind Turbine. Totally cool stuff, I might even be able to utilize something like that here in the Rio Rancho neighborhood. Now I just need to figure out how to pay for such a project, they are built a little different, but I believe the basic principles are the same. Just to get an idea of what one of the types of VAWTs look...
Wish Me Luck..
Q: Hmm, i'm not sure what i would like my funeral to be like. With any luck i have a few years left to think about it anyhow. I think i'd prefer to be cremated than buried, ashes spread over the Himalayas or another mountain range *sighs*A: Should improve the traction perhaps outside the coffee place Sherpa Tenzings descendant plans to open on Everest.......... Arcaton I plan to be cremated myself, in my family that seems to be the way........ I still fitted smoke alarms in the significant places tho' When I die, I want my body to be pure?d and made into a giant...
Works At The Funeral Home
Q: happy to say, i just got a job at the funeral home near me. the owner knows i plan to be a funeral director when i get my degree. right now i'm just a doorman, he will soon let me go to the hospital to get the bodies when they're released and do other more "funeral directorish" jobs. it's wonderful there. oddly enough, i really detest the thought of touching (mostly embalming) dead people. it's really kind of creepy there when all the lights are out at the end of the day--but the best part of it isn't really so "funeral home specific." you see, the window...
Write Your Own Funeral?
Q: I spent the day going to Ct for a memorial service for a good friend, age 87, architect; pneumonia, over in three days. Had all his marbles right to the end. Service was in the Congro church, sort of hybrid between memorial service and the usual services for the dead, which is reminiscent of, but less strict than, the Episcopal or Catholic. The minister (with a long sash around his neck that looked like a bunch of naval signal flags sewn together) did some praying and called for some comments on the departed, several of which had been prepared. Then he asked for others...
