Energy Solar

Solar energy is what many people all over the world hope and believe will be the ultimate energy source for the planet earth. As we run through our supply of easily available fossil fuels and we move away from the somewhat risky nuclear power industry, solar power might just be the answer to our energy needs. The American Solar Energy Society is one organization that is at the forefront of these discussions and are committed to promoting the use of solar energy for the benefit of Americans and the world. They publish a monthly magazine called Solar Today that has columns from industry experts who offer tips on marketing and manufacturing breakthroughs. They have an energy policy news section and special sections on how to invest in solar energy enterprises. They will even help you set up and maintain your own private solar heating and cooling system. In addition they feature up-coming meetings, seminars and events on solar power that are held all over the country and around the world. Even the United States Government is interested in solar energy and following the 1973 oil embargo decided to get serious about researching its potential for America and Americans. They have allocated $400 million dollars a year every year since 1973 to research solar energy. As that research continues scientists are finding cheaper, easier and more efficient ways to harness the power of the sun to meet our energy needs. Today a few people are even managing to utilize solar power to heat their homes and generate enough power for electricity to light their houses at night and there are millions of small and large experiments happening using solar energy around the country and around the world. But we are a long ways away from any real commercial applications. The key to success for solar energy seems to hinge on the question of how to store the solar energy at night after the sun has gone down. While the sun is up it doesn't seem to be a problem to connect and harness the power, but scientists are still partly stumped on that question.
