Clinical Depression
Clinical or major depression is the world's No. 1 mental disorder, the 2nd most disabling condition in the world behind heart disease. And it's growing at a most alarming rate. Depression facts are important and understanding how clinical depression works is the first step towards beating it. After that we will look at what research says are the best way to get rid of depression, and keep it away. Currently anti-depressants like Prozac and therapy combined is the most common way to treat depression. This is exactly how antidepressants claim to work; which is by treating levels of neurotransmitters. By understanding how antidepressants work, we can see how they treat a symptom of depression, but not the root of the depression, and are therefore ineffective in one to two thirds of sufferers. Clinical Depression Symptoms include: Loss of energy and constant tiredness; Constant feeling of unhappiness or sadness; Disrupted sleep either too much or too little; Feeling worthless; Loss of interest in things you used to enjoy; Irritability; and Suicidal thoughts. Clinical Depression is not just about your moods but may actually affect how you cope with life. It can prevent you from dealing with situations in daily life. Your concentration, memory and ability to make decisions can be impaired a great deal. If you experience a prolonged sense of the symptoms mentioned, you should seek to consult a doctor. There are many antidepressants that are used today to help combat depression. They are: Prozac, Serzone, Paxil, Wellbutrin, Zoloft, Lexapro, and Celexa. When these are combined with therapy, it can be a great combatant. The other treatments that you can choose to follow on top of these is to follow a balanced, nutritional diet, and get plenty of exercise.
